Islamic University HIV/AIDS Peer Educators’ Club (IUPEC) was initiated on 22nd January 2009. It was officially launched by the vice rector Dr.Mpezamihigo Muhammad in conjunction with the university coordinator; Al hajj Abas Samali and officials from ALLIANCE OF MAYORS AND MINICAPAL LEADERS ON HIV/AIDS IN AFRICA (AMICAALL)Uganda.

20 students were appointed to attended a five days training which

aimed at equipping the peer educators with knowledge, skills and positive attitudes that would facilitate HIV/AIDS preventions among students. However, IUPEC works along side IUIU HIV/AIDS TASK FORCE headed by Dr.Kigongo Harunah.
