A Christ-centered loving home for orphaned children near Mbale, Uganda, East Africa.

Lulwanda Children’s Home opened its doors on December 1, 2004, the first children’s home established by the Grace International Children’s Foundation (GICF). Lulwanda, an orphanage located in Uganda, East Africa, now houses and cares for 110 orphaned or abandoned children between the ages of 3 and 15.

Following the recent village leadership elections, we were blessed to welcome our newly elected LC1 Chairperson and committee members to Lulwanda for a courtesy visit, together with other Officials from District and Community.

The visit gave the new leaders an opportunity to meet the Lulwanda team, learn about our work, and hear about the challenges facing the community.

Our Administrator, Paul, also shared why it is important for the community to work together with Lulwanda, protect its property, and support the children we care for. He also highlighted the Good Neighbor Program, which helps strengthen the relationship between Lulwanda and the surrounding community.

We are grateful for the new leadership and look forward to working together for a safe and caring community.

Hello we're back to School for Term 3
Today, all our secondary students reported back to school, fully equipped with the requirements they need for the new term.
We thank God for bringing our students safely back to school. We pray that Term 3 will be a season of growth, wisdom, good health, and academic success for each one of them, to move to the next class come next year. Thanks to everyone making this possible through Lulwanda.

THEN & NOW: From Silence to Confidence, Mary’s Journey

When Mary Khabuya arrived at Lulwanda in February, she could barely speak or express herself. She could smile, but behind that smile was a story of pain and uncertainty.

In less than a year, we are seeing a beautiful change. Mary is gaining confidence, smiling freely, and finding her voice. Today, she can introduce herself, say her name, and proudly tell us her class.

It may seem like a small step, but for Mary, it is a significant milestone.

At Lulwanda, we believe that every child deserves a safe place to heal, grow, learn, and discover who they are. Mary’s journey reminds us that with love, care, and support, healing takes place one step at a time.

Helping Mama During the Holiday

During the holiday, Angel grabs a broom and sweeps away the dust, making a bright, clean space for Mama Agnes to sun-dry the coffee beans. With each swish and sweep, Angel’s helpful hands make Mama’s work easier.

Small acts of service teach children to be responsible, caring, and happy to help others.

Recently, Mercy and our farm manager, Ambrose, spent time with the children pruning trees and harvesting those they had planted for firewood. Together, they gathered and stored the firewood, learning the value of teamwork, stewardship, and caring for the resources God has entrusted to us.

Reagan Gives Back to Lulwanda

From childhood, Reagan has been a good neighbor and friend to the Lulwanda community. Recently, he returned to share his creativity and skills with our children and staff.

He taught them how to make shopping baskets from recycled plastic materials, as well as homemade cleaning detergents and liquid soap.

We are grateful for Reagan’s generosity and for the opportunity to learn practical ways to care for God’s creation and turn waste into something useful.

FAMILY HOLIDAY MEETING

As the children enjoy their school holiday, they gathered with their mothers for an important family meeting focused on making the most of the holiday while staying safe, healthy, and responsible. They shared from Scripture:

“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” — Colossians 3:20

The mothers took time to explain the meaning of a holiday and reminded the children that a break from school is not a break from responsibility. They encouraged them to take part in age-appropriate chores, help around the home, keep their spaces clean, and care for one another.

They also discussed safe and healthy games and activities, encouraging the children to have fun while avoiding dangerous situations and making wise choices. The children were reminded to guard their purity, take care of their bodies, and maintain good hygiene and healthy habits throughout the holiday.
It was a valuable time of teaching, encouragement, and family connection as the children began their holiday.

CAROL: THEN & NOW

From where she started to where she is today — Carol’s journey is a beautiful reminder of how love, care, and opportunity can make a difference. The photo on the left shows Carol before joining Lulwanda, while the photo on the right captures her in 2026 at Lulwanda.

Today, we celebrate not only how she has grown physically, but also the confidence, joy, and hope that continue to shape her journey.
Every child has a story. Every journey matters. And at Lulwanda, we are grateful to walk alongside these children as they grow and discover their God-given potential.
