The Good Samaritan School for the Deaf is a Community-Based Organisation that runs a primary school for deaf children in the village of Kitengesa, in the South-East of Uganda. 2025 Update

It has been a wonderful year at the Good Samaritan School for the Deaf. Through our other fundraising efforts (and because of generous people like you), the school has gotten its full license from the Ministry of Education, hosted students from the Netherlands, rebuilt the playground, and had a successful harvest of maize, cassava, and sweet potatoes.

We cannot thank you enough for all your help raising funds for this campaign over the past few years. However, we’ve hit a plateau in donations and we don’t think it is likely that we will be able to hit our goal. We will keep this campaign open until September 15th, at which point we will close it for good.

What happens if we don’t meet the goal?

Don’t worry – we have a back up plan. Even if we do not hit our goal and cannot purchase land, we’ve raised enough money to be able to support the school’s farming efforts for the next 5 years (remember, the GSSD grows a lot of their own food on a lot nearby and sells any surplus to support the school!).
This will allow the GSSD to provide the children and staff with food and the time saved from having to source/buy food can go toward strategic endeavors. Students will be able to visit the garden to learn about planting and garden care, and local adults will be employed regularly to help maintain the land, since school is the children's first priority, of course!

What if I don’t want my donation to go to food farming?

If you made a donation to this campaign at any time and you do not want it to go toward food farming, please email us at gsschooldeafk[at]gmail.com before September 15. We will work with you to find something more suitable.

What if I want to donate after September 15?

Thanks for thinking of us. After this campaign closes, you can contact us at gsschooldeafk[at]gmail.com to make a donation or get involved in another way.

No matter what happens, we remain eternally grateful to you for all your help.

This campaign will keep bellies full, which helps keep happy, healthy kids in school. We couldn’t have done it without you.
