Meet Kirabo — A Gift of Hope

Last week, we visited Sarah, and we were overjoyed to meet her beautiful baby girl.

Sarah has given birth safely, and she named her daughter Kirabo, a name that means “Gift.”What a beautiful reminder of how far this young mother has come.

When we first met Sarah, we were deeply concerned about her health and the health of her unborn baby. She was malnourished, had low blood levels, and there were fears that she might need a C-section. But God was gracious. Sarah gave birth naturally and safely, and today she is a proud mother holding her precious little gift.

After giving birth, one of Sarah’s relatives stepped forward to take her in. We visited them in their home and found Sarah happy, grateful, and full of appreciation for all the kind-hearted people who stood with her during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.

But Sarah’s journey is not over.

She dreams of "returning to school after this period" and building a better future for herself and Kirabo. The relative who welcomed Sarah into her home is also doing her best to provide for the family. She is a widow with a young baby and has limited resources.

This means that Sarah and Kirabo still need our support.

They need food, baby essentials, clothing, and other basic necessities as Sarah recovers and cares for her newborn. And as she prepares for her dream of returning to school, continued support will help her take that next step toward independence.

From the frightened young mother we first met, to the smiling mother we see today holding "Kirabo" her "Gift"we have witnessed what compassion can do.

To everyone who supported Sarah: thank you.Your kindness helped bring hope into a difficult situation.

But the journey continues. Let us keep walking with Sarah and Kirabo.

A gift has arrived. Now let us help her grow in a family surrounded by hope.

World Breastfeeding Week 2026

Theme “Breastfeeding for a sustainable start in life: strengthening what works.”

For us we believe it is a week for action not just to create awareness. Every mother deserves support. Every baby deserves a healthy start.

For some young mothers, breastfeeding can be challenging. Some may struggle because they do not have enough food to meet their own nutritional needs, while others may be medically advised not to breastfeed. These mothers should not be judged or left to face these challenges alone.

At Smile Again Families, we believe that strengthening what works also means strengthening the support around mothers and their babies.

Sometimes, supporting a mother means listening to her.
Sometimes, it means connecting her to health professionals.
And sometimes, it means collecting and providing food supplies and other essential items to support both mother and baby.

You can be part of that support.
Your contribution can help us provide food and essential support to young mothers who are struggling to care for themselves and their babies.

This World Breastfeeding Week, let’s move beyond awareness to action.
Support a mother. Nourish a family. Give a baby a better start. And with just 15 USD both the mother and baby can survive a month.

A Story of Hope: Before & After

Just a few months ago, we met Sarah during one of our community outreaches. She was only 15 years old, pregnant, malnourished, and physically very weak. She had lost both parents and was facing one of the most difficult moments of her life.

When we accompanied her to the health center, the scan revealed that she was seven months pregnant not nine months as she had believed. She was severely undernourished and had low blood levels, putting both her and her baby at risk.

Many of you responded with incredible compassion. Through your prayers, encouragement, and financial support, Sarah received the care she urgently needed.

Today, these new photos tell a different story.

The young girl who once looked hopeless now wears a genuine smile. She joined us at the **Your Worth Summit**, where she found a safe community, renewed hope, and the reminder that her life has value and purpose.

The transformation you see is more than a physical change. It is the result of love put into action. It is proof that when people choose to care, lives are restored.

Thank you for believing in Sarah. Thank you for standing with teenage mothers when they need it most. Because of your kindness, another young mother is discovering that her story is not defined by her struggles but by the hope that lies ahead.

Together, we are restoring dignity, one life at a time.

YOUR WORTH SUMMIT 2026 | DAY FIVE – "MISSION

The final day of Your Worth Summit 2026 was a celebration of purpose, hope, and new beginnings.

Officer Grace Namara from the Family and Child Protection Unit in Masaka led an inspiring session, "Love That Lasts: Building Living Relationships,"encouraging the young mothers to make wise choices and build healthy, respectful relationships.

Ms. Luyinda Phionah then challenged the mothers through "Purpose After Pain" session, inspiring each participant to develop a personal vision and action plan for the future.

One of the most powerful moments of the summit followed as all 51 mothers, led by our Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Joseph, carried their written visions to the chapel at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission Home and placed them before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. It was a beautiful act of surrender, faith, and commitment to a new beginning.

The summit was officially closed by Mr. Kizza Eilson, Masaka City's Senior Probation and Welfare Officer, before we shared a joyful farewell dinner celebrating new friendships and transformed lives.

As we conclude this incredible five-day journey, we thank every donor, volunteer, facilitator, partner, and friend of Smile Again Families. Your support has helped restore hope, renew purpose, and transform lives.

The summit has ended, but the mission continues.
