Stakeholders from The Government of Uganda line ministries: the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, the Ministry of Education and Sports Uganda, development partners and civil society gathered for the National Inception Meeting of Kulea Watoto 2.0, marking the official launch of a 3-year initiative to strengthen Early Childhood Development in Uganda.
Funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and led by The The AfriChild Centre with partners LABE Uganda, Kabarole Research and Resource Centre, International Rescue Committee and Madrasa Early Childhood Development Institute, the project will support 1,000 households in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement and urban Kampala through a 2-generation model focused on responsive caregiving, early learning, livelihoods strengthening and policy advocacy.
The meeting sets the foundation for coordinated action, evidence generation and policy engagement at a time when Uganda’s sector is expanding policy commitments and seeking stronger systems for delivery. The focus now shifts to alignment, collaboration and building pathways for lasting impact for young children and their caregivers.
