IF THESE THINGS BE IN YOU
2 Peter 1:1-19
Add to your faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, Patience, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness, and Love

And to virtue add knowledge. Many people today have accumulated too much knowledge on things which don't concern them. Pastors have accumulated more knowledge on what is happening in news papers than what the bible is saying. The departed general in the Lord Yongi Cho once narrated a story of a sister in the church who brought her husband for service and what Pastor Cho preached that day was more of philosophy. So after service the sister took her husband to meet the pastor, then pastor Cho turns to the gentleman and asks did you enjoy service?. The man replied and said no. And cho asks why? And the gentleman said I suffered throughout the service. And cho said at that point he wanted thunder to strike and the gentleman said I am a professor of philosophy and what you were teaching is elementary philosophy. And he said young man since you are a pastor specialize in Bible.

At this point yongi Cho was preaching trying to impress the visitor and to prove how educated he is. Listen this has been and is still the disease that is eating up many pastors, bishops etc preaching to impress. And this is so because many pastors don't have time for their bible. And yet they know too much about news, football, name it. As a pastor specialize in the knowledge of the bible.

2 Peter 1:8 KJV says something very important here - "For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

The above eight graces in our theme scripture is what makes the leader in you of great importance.

Some years ago during a door to door ministry, I invited a team of women to come to Church for fellowship and this was their response, " you never pass us without greeting, but your fellow pastors doesn't greet". Now in as much as I had to defend my fellow pastors there but after I realized that if the eight graces don't take root in you, you may end up frustrating the efforts of the evangelists in your Church.

This is why Apostle Paul emphasizes in Ephesians 4:1 "I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God 's service, (AMP)"

Hope you have been blessed by this message.

BE CONSISTENT
By Pastor Opanyi Emma Bril

In a world that often encourages us to be flighty and inconsistent, we are called to a higher standard—one of steadfastness, reliability, and faithfulness. In Hebrews 10:23, we read, 'Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.' This verse sets the tone for our spiritual journey.
God is consistent. His promises are yes and amen! If He is unwavering in His love and the fulfillment of His promises, how much more should we strive to be consistent in our devotion to Him?
As Christians, we understand the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is by the Spirit that we are empowered to live out our faith consistently. Yet, we often find ourselves in seasons of highs and lows, moments of fervent prayer and worship followed by periods of spiritual dryness. But God calls us to be consistent, not just in the good times, but in every season. In James 1:12, we are reminded, 'Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.'

Consistency is not merely a matter of routine; it is a reflection of our love for God. When trials come, as they surely will, our consistency in faith becomes a testimony to the world around us. Consider the life of Daniel. In the book of Daniel, we see a man who was consistent in his prayer life. Even when faced with the threat of death, he continued to pray three times a day, as was his custom. Daniel 6:10 tells us, 'Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.'

Daniel did not let fear dictate his actions; he remained consistent in his relationship with God. This consistency ultimately led to miraculous outcomes. God delivered Daniel from the lion's den, and because of Daniel's faithfulness, the king himself came to know the one true God. Our consistent witness can lead others to Christ. When they see our unwavering faith in the midst of challenges, they are drawn to the hope we have in Jesus.

Now, let’s be honest: being consistent isn’t always easy. Life throws challenges our way—distractions, discouragement, and sometimes even doubt. But God has equipped us through the Holy Spirit to remain steadfast. Philippians 4:13 reassures us, 'I can do all this through him who gives me strength.' It is through His strength that we are empowered to be consistent in our prayer life, in our service to others, and in our worship.

So how do we cultivate consistency in our daily lives? First, we must establish a routine of prayer and Bible study. It is essential to carve out time each day to communicate with God and meditate on His Word. Let this be a sacred time where you invite the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and illuminate the scriptures. Just as Daniel made prayer a priority, we too must prioritize our time with the Lord.

2. We must remember to celebrate the small victories. Consistency doesn’t mean perfection; it means progress. Each time you choose to pray, read the Word, or serve someone in need, you are building a life of faith that honors God. Celebrate those moments, and let them inspire you to keep going.

In conclusion, let us strive to be consistent in our faith, just as our God is consistent in His love for us. May we hold unswervingly to the hope we profess and allow the Holy Spirit to empower us in every aspect of our lives. As we do this, we will not only grow deeper in our relationship with God, but we will also be a light to those around us, drawing them to the hope that we have in Christ. Let us pray together for strength, encouragement, and the desire to remain consistent in our walk of faith. Amen.
