On , we hosted a group of inspiring women leaders, allies and female representatives of the Lira University students guild to discuss leadership, equality, and strategies to bridge the gender gap.
While delivering a virtual keynote, Sandra Aceng, Executive Director at Women of Uganda Network emphasized the need for women to support and uplift each other, challenge gender disinformation, advocate for inclusive policies, and take bold action to claim leadership spaces.
Akullu Lydia, a Journalist with Nation Media Group moderated a fireside chat with Mercy Chagara, a Wildlife Veterinarian with Uganda Wildlife Authority and Ruth Atim, the Executive Director of Gender Tech Initiative-Uganda. Both Ruth and Mercy discussed their advice for young women entering male-dominated fields.
Our session wrapped up with participants engaging in small-group discussions on why the gender equality divide gaps persist and proposals for recommendations to overcome these challenges. This brief will be published in the coming days.
