DEPU believes that Sport if applied correctly, have proven to strengthen young people’s ability to shape their own future, become active citizens and commit themselves to building up their communities. Sport activities can structurally change their behaviour by helping them to break the vicious cycle of poverty, violence and inequality that often keeps them and their families on the margin of society.
By this, we mean the long-term, scientifically supported use of Sport as a tool for development. Our particular aim is to enable youth from disadvantaged backgrounds to create a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.
Sports – This program gives young people opportunity to play and enjoy sport together and benefiting from what sport is capable of sparking in young people. Sport is enjoyable and healthy for body and mind, it generates bonding and team spirit among participants, it promotes fair play and inclusiveness and it makes young people take a positive break from daily life. The enjoyable nature of sports makes it easier to appeal to young people and activate their participation in the community.
