We had an amazing time designing, creating and curating eye catching looks ready to take part in this year’s IWD fashion show in Gulu! We loved having a stall selling our sustainable handcrafts and connecting with new SEW supporters! It was a fantastic opportunity to network, get our name further a field and show how beautiful accessories can be made from recycled and natural materials!

We are officially on a 20 day countdown to the start of Cycle 3 of the SEW Programme!

After weeks of home visits, interviewing ladies, the new group of 20 single mothers were given a place on the programme and invited to a welcome party in October.

One of the most special things about our programme is supporting the women who’ve been through a similar journey become a support network for each other. Already, at the party they led each other in praise and worship, laughed together when sharing stories and encouraged each other. I am so incredibly excited to see how God uses us as a vessel for empowerment, to see real sustainable change in their livelihoods.

You can directly support this cycle of the SEW programme by purchasing our sustainable handcrafts this festive season! All profits go to the business capital and school fees of our beneficiaries! We will be hosting our last fundraiser of the year with at the iconic this 19th, 20th and 21st!

We give all glory to God, as we walk into our 6th year of sustainably empowering women in Lira, Northern Uganda! We are in awe of how God is using SEW to bless people and to celebrate this milestone we want to give you an update of what exciting and new things are happening!

We are honoured to be entrusted with this new project! In my mum’s name as a survivor of domestic violence, God has been leading us to run a refuge, I started a fundraiser for it at her celebration of life that is ongoing, on the way we have been approached by an organisation closing down to take over and newly partner with the Government Gender based violence sector to now manage the only refuge in Lango subregion!
We have been given the keys to an office for SIU in the GBV office compound and on Monday we will be handed the keys to the refuge!
This has also led to an exciting new recruitment of team members to manage this new arm of our organisation.

We have held interviews with 20 new single mother led families, who are ready and excited for cycle 3 of the SEW programme! We have lots of preparation on going for the new cycle and we are refining and improving our programme in order to provide the best services, in a huge way way we are very blessed to now be able to offer free counselling and legal support to all of the SEW ladies.

Our crafting cooperative has never been stronger, more equipped and products more refined, and we are already receiving orders for wholesale and retail in Uganda and the UK!

In the UK we have a new committed, God fearing team of Trustees, we are working on our CIO registration and website!

We have started the journey to a new project working with Lira Women’s Prison.

God has expanded our tent and we are starting to develop our new land, creating a new space to run our programmes, a home for our growing family and a sustainable business to feed into our SEW programmes.

We would be so grateful for your support as we take this step into our 6th year of operations, empowering more women to sustainable livelihoods in Lango subregion. Together we can achieve more!

We had a natural tie and dye experiment day, with SEW ladies, our family and friends! I went early morning to the 2nd hand market to find white pillow cases that were 30p each, then after buying the ingredients needed, we started the workshop by chopping, boiling and blending coffee, turmeric, hibiscus, beetroot, red cabbage and greens to make natural dyes. We treated the pillowcases, then Kristin showed us different folding methods before going out on the mat to design our pieces. Unfortunately in the drying process some of the colours didn’t stay, so we’re working on the treatment of the material and the drying process, we would love any advice. Everyone laughed at my creativity 😉but watch till the end to see who’s turned out the best😜
