A few weeks ago, the Potter’s Village Rehab unit for disabled children held a Praise and thank you party for the 10 children who have started walking over the last few months. There was singing and dancing, lots of testimonies and Praise to God for what he has done in their children’s lives, cake, balloons and bubbles. Here is a flavour of the day 🥰

We also welcomed Crissy our new Physiotherapist working alongside Keti and Annah to continue this incredible work.

It was with much joy that the staff at Potter’s Village enjoyed an Easter meal together. Not only was this an opportunity to celebrate the message of Easter, but it was also a way of saying thank you to all the staff.

Potter's Village currently supports over 60 children living in the community in Kisoro district. Each month all these children are invited to Potter's Village to by weighed and checked and for their carers receive their support money.

The group who visited in February from St James and Emmanuel, Didsbury took many children's shoes and also many donated clothes and some brand-new hoodies and sweatshirts. Most of the children left with new clothes or shoes along with a bag of food, which includes sorghum flour, rice, sugar and dried fish. They were also giving a huge bar of soap!

These are some of the ways that the children living in the community are supported and we are so grateful to all those sponsors who give regularly so that this support can continue month by month.

Staff at the Disability Rehabilitation Unit recently completed ‘baby Ubuntu training’. The training included the three rehab staff and three other staff picked carefully from the medical centre and crisis centre. Our intention was that the trained staff will pass on the knowledge to others, and that way, we shall improve our early intervention systems, and when the team is bigger, the impact increases. Two mothers from the community were also part of the team that was trained.

Ubuntu hub is a non-profit research and educational team based in the International Centre for Evidence in Disability at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Their aim is to help improve the lives of children with developmental disabilities, and their families. https://www.ubuntu-hub.org/

Over Christmas staff at Potter's Village were gifted food parcels to thank them for their dedication and support throughout the last year. Also all the community support children were invited to come to Potter's Village for a fun day of activities and were gifted some clothes for Christmas. It was a lovely gathering and lots of fun for the children and their carers.
