Making progress as we speak! Sometimes I am amazed at how quickly they make progress ... other times I hold my hands up when things take forever and I cry 'Aaaah! then I sigh as I remember, 'TIA' - This is Africa!

The wooden security fence and gates in front of the school were desperately in need of replacing. So, thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters the masons have ordered the stone and have commenced the construction of a much stronger, more substantial and secure security wall with metal railings and gates.

It is physically hard, hot and dusty work but the guys will show great resilience, endeavour and skill to complete the task just like they have before in building other parts of the school. Our encouragement and thanks go out to them and to our sponsors who have made this possible.

This is only the first phase, once they have completed the wall and gates in the front of the school they will need to reinforce the security boundary around the sides and rear of the plot. However, the children will be safer when the security walls are finished.

A good start to the year! Well done to the school team and the contractors. All of the windows and doors on the first floor have now been fully glazed. Plastering next perhaps to finish them off nicely...

Thanks everyone for your support.

How exciting… we now have a charity bank account!

So, we are ready to start 2026 with the Emily Collins Trust having UK Registered Charity status and a charity bank account with the Cooperative Bank!

So, if anyone (who is a UK taxpayer and I guess that is most of us!) would like to set up a regular standing order or even make a one off donation then please message me for the bank details and a gift aid form.

And, if you are a business then you can also take advantage of some tax relief by giving to a UK registered charity. Please check with your accountant to see how to do this in the most effective way for your company.

A big thank you from me and an even bigger thank you from the vulnerable children in Uganda. Your support was amazing in 2025 and so here’s to a happy, healthy, safe and prosperous 2026!

It was so exciting to see our good friends from the UK Charity Kwizera, Andy & Gill, visit the school yesterday. Emily, Ken, Doreen, Alpha and Martin (and Ananias who took the photo) were so pleased to welcome them, introduce them to the children and teachers, show them around the building and update them about the progress they are making.

To all those very kind people who keep asking me about Christmas cards - I’m now pleased to share that they have arrived. They feature six different beautiful photographs of wildlife in the snow. The photographs were all taken and the images generously donated by my very dear photographer ā€˜friend of the Emily Collins School’ Tony Matthews. Each pack contains six different cards and are available on my website or can be collected from The Beacon Cafe at St. Mary’s Church, Ferndown. Please give generously as 100% of your donations goes direct towards continuing to build the Emily Collins School - thank you so much for your support!

Bring your Emily Collins School calendar along on the day and get the photographers to sign it. They will also be answering questions about their travels and photographs. Every picture tells a story eh?! There are five weeks to go so I’ll post a different photographer each week….this giant otter was photographed by my friend Tony Matthews! Hopefully we’ll see you therešŸ‘

Our 2026 Calendars have arrived! I’m so pleased to be able to thank 5 of my UK based photographer ā€˜Friends of the Emily Collins School’ for donating some of their photos to be included in this year’s Calendar. Their exciting photos capture images from across the World from the Arctic, Europe, Asia and even the Antarctic. So my sincere thanks go out to Al, Dave, Ryan, Tony and Will. You have created something really special to help raise funds for the Emily Collins School. Thank you!
The calendars will be available to collect from our display stand at The Beacon Cafe, Ferndown, on my website at https://www.stephencollinsphotography.co.uk/product/2026-calendar-by-friends-of-the-emily-collins-school/ or by messaging me directly. As always, they are ā€˜free’, well ā€˜free’ in exchange for a donation to the Emily Collins School of at least Ā£15. Please remember 100% of your donation will go direct to the Emily Collins School, Kisoro, Uganda

Damage and breakages can sometimes happen by accident and sometimes it can be as a result of sheer vandalism. Vandalism caused by frustration or jealousy or both. However the window panes were broken, they needed to be repaired... Phew... all done now. A huge "THANK YOU" to our sponsors.
