LOVE FOR THE GOSPEL AND COMMITMENT TO GOD’S WILL
“For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established—that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me” (Romans 1:11-11, NKJV).
God desires for every believer to be strong and mature spiritually. He wants us to serve Him with all our hearts, soul and mind mature and strong in faith. Paul’s desire to visit Rome was compelled by love for the gospel and commitment to God’s will in sharing the message of salvation. He praises God for the believers in Rome not for donations or for grand church, but instead for their growing faith worldwide in Christ Jesus. Isn’t that wonderful! We need to appreciate the Apostle Paul in highlighting the importance of love for the gospel and commitment to God’s will/plan for humanity.
Our generation today is losing the apostolic motive for the gospel and God’s plan/will for sharing the message of salvation. Over the years, I have lived in different cultures, served with different ministers and have witnessed ministries collapsing because many ministers pursue ministry for various reasons and that’s dangerous. Some are driven by guilt, a desire for wealth, control, or public approval—motives that shift focus from serving God to personal gain. Others may mistake personal desires for a divine calling, lacking a clear understanding of what truly constitutes a God-given call to ministry. What’s you motive for doing what you do? It’s crucial for every one of us to examine our own motives. God is warming us in these last days to take caution of our motives for doing ministry. When God provides resources or funds to meet a particular need in church/ministry let’s be thankfully faithful. We should not divert resources to something else for personal gain. For instance, if God provides money to buy Bibles or work on a project like we are doing in Busoga subregion to construct a Medical Center we should be thankfully faithful with money and people supporting the work. Let’s be thankfully faithful by doing what that fund is intended for. God has reason why one need is met and others still remain pending. Our service should stem from love for God and a desire to glorify Him. Our call to ministry is about aligning with God’s will and honouring Him in every aspect of our life. True motivation for the Ministry should transcend personal gain and self-glory. May God find us faithful pursuing His will in sharing the gospel with integrity and accountability to His glory and for the good of humanity. God bless you.
