We Restore Hope of vulnerable through sustainable skills and IGAs

About Us:
HEMOTG FOUNDATION UGANDA is a community based organization reaching out to underprivileged communities working directly with Children and Youth On/Off Streets. It started in 2013 and attained its CBO/1859 legal status (registering with the Kasese District Local Government) in 2018. Our uniqueness:
Saving the World through Music and Art: Music and Art are more than just creative expressi

ons, they are powerful catalysts for change, connection and transformation. Through this approach, we recognize that storytelling through music and visual arts can inspire hope, challenge stereotypes, and drive meaningful social impact, unite people, uplift communities and spark positive change. By amplifying the voices of street children and marginalized youth, we create a platform for their talents, resilience and stories to be seen and heard.

Today Hemtog Foundation Uganda hosted a team of Doctors without Borders commonly known as Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF to learn about our creative-led approaches in delivering services to vulnerable and marginalized communities within Kasese Municipality. This moment was full of joy as they explored the emerging methodology we use Talent Based Livelihood Development and Reintegration that integrate and combine our three Approaches , -Get Up Speak Out and . In our discussion, we also talked of collaborative projects under Heath Promotion, , Economic Empowerment. The team appreciated the support from Birthing Kit Foundation Australia that we have been giving to vulnerable expectant mothers in the region. All this connection is as a result of skills gained during the & capacity building workshop by Foundation for Community Development and Empowerment: FCDE to ensure Local Partner Organizations are positioned to mobilize enough resources to execute community-led actions that are sustainable. Children come to this world through their mothers and fathers, but they are all of our responsibility and belong to all of us. 🙏

*Now look at this* !👇👇

Women should stop taking their frustrations out on children! How can a mother do this to her own step child! Even if it's not your child, this is just wickedness. Imagine because of mere rice!!! Apparently she's on the run, may she be located soon by the police.

We are all stressed, but you don't see us going around hurting people. This nonsense must end!!!!!!

Often our mothers go through a lot right from the very first time they realise they are pregnant to the time they girth birth. During this nine months journey, Expectant mothers experience significant physical, emotional, and systemic challenges. They worry a lot about what is gonna happen, who is gonna be with them, take care of them coz it's this time that they need someone to show them love, compassion, feed them well, restore their hopes.. Yet to some other women and young mothers this has always been a period that brings agony in their lives according to these mothers we just met at town council.. Denial from their husbands, young girls are chased from schools, worries about who will be there to take them to hospitals when it's time?, poor roads, hard to reach areas, some becomes social misfits, looked at as wasted. Men run away simply because they don't want to take full responsibilities of taking care of them, fear to be imprisoned for pregnanting young girls. Birthing kits have been Identified as crucial essentials expectant mothers will always think about whenever they become pregnant..where to get the money to buy one because then it sets her minds free to now start visiting the health facilities when she is very confident 🤗..What an experience! Getting to know, listen, learn from our mothers life experience stories!.. clearing some of these worries by donating to them free birthing kits, the smiles on their faces inspires us more . On their behalf and us, We can't thank enough the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia 🌏 for this humanitarian gesture giving us these free birthing kits🙏🙏...

Ending Street Children: Beyond Removal to Lasting Solutions

Today marks another important step in our collective efforts to reduce the number of children living on the streets. Through the partnership of Kasese Municipal Council (KMC) and the Office of the Resident District Commissioner (State House), four street-connected children this morning reported to Mubuku Presidential Hub, seven have joined Magarita Primary School and two have enrolled at Kasese Technical Institute.

According to a needs assessment conducted by Hemtog Foundation Uganda in August last year, Kasese had 163 street-connected children. This highlights the scale of the challenge and reminds us that while individual success stories are encouraging, much more remains to be done.

Removing children from the streets alone is not a lasting solution. We must address the root causes that push children onto the streets, including poverty, family breakdown, violence, neglect, substance abuse and limited access to education and social protection.

Our goal should not simply be to clear the streets. It should be to rescue, rehabilitate, reintegrate and empower children while strengthening families and communities to prevent more children from ending up on the streets.

Let us work together to build a cleaner, safer and more compassionate Kasese, one where every child has the opportunity to grow up in a loving family, access education and realize their full potential.

During our outreach activity today, distributing free from Birthing Kit Foundation Australia some women told Hemtog Foundation Uganda that their husbands can't afford buying a complete which costs close to $15 . They added that men don't follow women for visits fearing blood tests. They however called for massive inclusive sensitization on mindset change and . As a grassroot organization, we still appeal for more support that will look into the sustainability of this project. With other like minded philanthropists and donors, we hope to give life skills to these communities.

Walking a thousand miles starts with one step, here is a lived experience on how Birthing Kit Foundation Australia support through Hemtog Foundation Uganda is reaching the people in hard to reach areas. Annet 19yrs a mother to three says she recalls the struggle to get which is the during her pregnancies after the husbands ignoring to fulfill the roles and responsibilities. Her story is not far from that of Nyakambere aged 17 who was impregnated after failing to buy sanitary pads but was convinced by a boda boda person who later took off and has remained at large. Our field findings indicate that Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights is another area that needs much support. They continue to ask to get more grants and ensure they offer them life skills that can strengthen their Livelihood, train communities on behavioral change while others ask for start up capital. This calls for more collaboration and Partnerships with like minded organizations and individuals who empathize with them. We have hope that through capacity building by Foundation for Community Development and Empowerment: FCDE we shall be able to do what we can.
