Yesterday, the GOSAFO-UG team went out into the field for Home Visits to check on the children and families in our care. To reach them, we had to take off our gumboots, fold up our trousers, and step directly into the river currents.

There is no bridge here. Yet, this is the exact water that young pupils must cross on foot every morning and evening just to sit in a classroom and learn.

Our journey yesterday was a stark reminder of the massive geographical and infrastructural hurdles our children face in their pursuit of education. Walking in their footsteps deepens our resolve to advocate for their safety, support their education, and stand with their families through every obstacle.

Education is a right, but for these resilient learners, it is a daily act of bravery. 🎒❤️

📚 Opening books, opening minds!
There is nothing quite like the energy of gathering together with the incredible children in our care. In this moment, they are proudly holding the books we regularly read together during our literacy and mentorship sessions.

At GOSAFO-UG, one of our thematic areas is Intellectual Wellness, which drives our Educational Support and Vocational Skills programs. We believe that nurturing a love for reading is the absolute foundation for academic success, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.

By ensuring these children have access to books, a supportive environment, and active guidance, we are giving them the tools to build their own bright futures.

Our team is out in the field with some of the children in our care, standing near the bamboo trees along the old path of River Nyamwamba.

At GOSAFO-UG, two of our thematic areas are Intellectual Wellness (Educational Support) and Environmental Wellness (Sustainability & Awareness). We believe that true education shouldn't just happen inside four walls, it happens when children can see, touch, and understand the ecosystem around them.

By teaching the next generation about riverbank conservation and the vital role bamboo plays in stabilizing our soils, we are nurturing both their minds and their responsibility to the earth.

Good Salt Foundation Uganda Gosafo partners with Union Hill Elementary for Global Peace Exchange!
We believe that empowering children starts with connecting them to the global community. We are excited to announce our recent collaboration through the The Peace Crane Project .
Yesterday, our home was filled with creativity and purpose as the children participated in the The Peace Crane Project. We are so proud of the children at GOSAFO-UG!
While all the children in our care are taking part in this global initiative, these six young leaders have officially kicked off our partnership with Union Hill Elementary in the USA! Union Hill Elementary requested to match with six of our children, and the letters, art work, and paper cranes are now ready to cross the ocean to their new friends.

This exchange allows our students to practice their multilingual skills and share our Ugandan culture while promoting a message of universal peace.
We look forward to many more international collaborations that inspire our children to become global citizens.
By folding these paper cranes, our children are learning that peace isn't just a word, it’s a bridge we build together through friendship and understanding.

Taking Action for Physical Wellness (Health & Nutrition)!! 🥘
At GOSAFO-UG, joining our program is the start of a holistic restoration process. Following the recent registration of a new Program Member, our team conducted a home needs assessment to identify the family's most urgent needs.
The assessment revealed a critical situation: the household was highly vulnerable and experiencing extreme food scarcity, with family members frequently sleeping on empty stomachs.

Guided by our mission to be the "Salt of the Earth," we moved quickly to intervene and we are pleased to report that we delivered an essential relief package to provide immediate nutritional stability: We delivered a relief package including:
25 kg of Rice
25 kg of Maize flour
10 kg of Millet flour
10 kg of Beans
2 kg of Sugar
2 bars of Soap
A basin
A 20L Jerrycan

This immediate support provides the nutritional foundation necessary for the child to thrive in our other programs. Besides, this intervention ensures that this household can focus on growth and education rather than the pain of hunger.
We extend our deepest thanks to the donors and partners who make this rapid response possible. Your generosity allows us to respond swiftly to these crises and build a foundation of health for the children of Uganda.
