Say No to Gender Based Violence!

New data from Uganda's Family Division of the High Court shows that up to 80% of divorce cases filed are by women. Statistics obtained by The Daily Monitor from the Family Division show that by the end of September, over 1,300 divorce cases had been brought forward. The majority of petitions were filed by women, who, according to court documentation, complained of physical assault and domestic violence, verbal abuse, disrespect, psychological torture, including prolonged silent treatment, persistent quarrels, and humiliation. A significant number of petitioners also raised complaints of infidelity.

It's a sad moment in Uganda as the country mourns the demise of Rebecca Cheptegei
Rebecca Cheptegei (22 Feb 1991– 5 Sep 2024) was a Ugandan cross country, long-distance and marathon runner, who was the national record holder in the latter discipline and a former world champion in mountain running.
She died on 5 September 2024 of an alleged domestic violence attack over a land dispute with her ex-boyfriend.
