People And Nature’s Story

People and Nature Rwenzori Mountain (PANR) was founded in 2016 with the aim of strengthening the relationship of communities on and around Mt. Rwenzori with nature for sustainable improved well-being, household income and self driven development that builds on identity, tradition and belief. In 2017 PANR registered with Kasese District Local Government, department of Community Development Services as a community based organization (CBO), on 4th February 2019 it registered at national level with the registrar of companies as a limited company by guarantee registration Number 80020001582504, and on 6th September 2019 it registered with the NGO Bureau in Uganda and acquired a certificate of registration No. 3425, including a permit of operation No.4064.

People and Nature Rwenzori mountain (PANR) organization’s main aim is to empower vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in the hard to live and hard to reach rural areas on and around Mount Rwenzori with capacities for sustainable development strategies/interventions that are geared towards promoting co-existence of man and nature for improved social services. 600 Indigenous youths/young people and women on and around Mt. Rwenzori have been identified from 600 households and organized in 20 small groups of 30 each (farm field school groups-FFSG), and empowered with knowledge and skills for conserving nature and the environment for sustainable poverty eradication and development.
