A head of the commemoration of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on 15th June 2023, CHO Uganda held a 2-days (12th&13th) community dialogue in Sitabaale village; Gguludene parish-Busukuma Division under the UN Theme "Seniors deserve our respect and Attention". This event aimed at educating the community members about the elder abuse and neglect and how youth can get involved to address the vice. The event gathered over 54 participants who included; older persons, out of school youth, school students, village political, religious and cultural leaders, leaders of the older persons' councils at village level. Great appreciation goes to CHO Uganda patron-Richard Waller in UK for Financial support that made the event a successful activity, CHO Uganda chairperson also the a social gerontologist at the ministry of gender for the technical guidance. We call upon the public to emulate the same as we prepare for the WEAAD on 15th, June, 2023.

Genuine giving comes from within our hearts. Please donate ($ 1,424 or Pounds 1,084) to helps us to train 30 older widows and their grandchildren from Sitabaale and Bupayi villages to adapt to Key Hole vegetable and fruit gardening and VSLA models. After the training, the trainees will be provided with different improved seedlings to empower them to engage in simple family income-generating activities like KHGs for vegetable and fruit growing of their choices. Our project idea aims to increase older widows’ households’ incomes and address malnutrition among children within their care. Any side of your donation is most welcome.
