Family Rescue Mission

Family Rescue Mission Family Rescue Mission (FaRM) is a local Non Governmental Organization registered in Uganda in 2014, Children are the future for the community.

FaRM Background:

Family Rescue Mission (FaRM) is a local Non Governmental Organization registered in Uganda in 2015, Reg: No 11257 but started community work in 2013. It was formulated with the aim of helping the young people/youth to live healthy life styles that is why the entire family is targeted. Often times we look at the behaviors, issues and problems of young people and try to change them

but forget their causes which in most cases originate from homes because singling out one person from the family and in this case the young person/youth cannot bring about lasting impact when it comes to behavior change since the entire support system has been left out thus the family strategy. If a child’s self esteem has been built right from home, he or she can be able to make informed decisions despite the fact that they will go through adolescence which comes with a lot of challenges. Emphasis is also put on ending domestic violence, hunger through strengthening Agricultural activities, sensitizing families on health issues and increasing accessibility of health services. The strategy of households caters for everyone, be it those in school, out of school among others because everyone at the end of the day comes from a family. FaRM will use the parents/guardians to pass on information to young people; we believe it’s a sustainable way as it will cater for the new borns as well because they will find a good environment as their parent will be empowered to raise them well. FaRM also wants to make a family a better place financially, morally and spiritually for everyone not only the youth and young people. As a team, we have gained enough experience in implementing young people and parents programs in capacity building in Behavioral Building Communication (BBC), Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), Parent Child Communication (PCC) packages, Livelihood skills development & interventions as well as Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) packages. VISION:

To educate, empower, and nurture a holy, faithful, sustainable, productive and everlasting family institution. MISSION:

To reach out and transform the communities by identifying the disadvantaged people like women, orphans, people with disability (PWD) and people living with HIV/AIDS; through capacity building and skills training for self reliance so as to improve their standards of living. Programmatic Goal:

To contribute to the increase in YFS uptake and reduction of the incidence rate of HIV/AIDS transmission amongst young people through sensitisation and sustainable family institution. Objectives of the Organization:

a) To sustain livelihood security of households and child nutrition through sustainable agricultural practices. Agriculture remains the back bone of rural economies in Uganda. Investing in agricultural sector will mean economic growth for the area and reduced poverty levels. b) To improve health status of families by reducing the occurrence of preventable and immunizable diseases and increase access to basic health care practices. A healthy community propels development, while unhealthy community is a burden to national development. Investing in health will mean reduction in poverty, improved productivity, and happy environment for the children. c) To strengthen the capacity of family members to improve their life styles, preparing people for meaningful and lasting families, strengthen relationships, spirituality among children and advocate for children’s rights. Creating a concussive environment for the children to live in means survival of the community in terms of work force hence development. d) Promote prevention, care and support communities and people affected and infected with HIV-AIDS. HIV& AIDS has a far reaching negative impact on a very aspect of life. It increases poverty, reduces productive work force, worsens OVC (orphan vulnerable children) situation and deepens underdevelopment. Addressing HIV& AIDS will overturn the negative connotations listed and cause development. e) To carry out Advocacy and Child protection campaigns in schools and communities; network with FBOs (Faith Based Companies), CBOs (community based Organisations); and Civil Society Organisations to achieve the objectives of the organisation. f) To protect the available water sources; and provide resources for and facilitate availability of safe drinking water and observance of improved hygiene and sanitation. g) To fight stigma and discrimination of PWDs (People with Disabilities) in communities; KPs sensitize communities about different forms of disability and Network with Disability concerned organizations, CBOs, FBOs and Government to support PWDs. h) To improve the lives of vulnerable children especially supporting girl child education from needy families and teenage mothers. The support will be in form of scholastic materials like books, pens, uniforms among others. i) To improve reproductive health issues like family planning, health care for infants, prenatal, postnatal and delivery care, unwanted pregnancy, violence against women, STDs, HIV/AIDS among others through sensitization.
