OBJECTIVES
a) To improve on the livelihoods of the vulnerable children by providing them with formal education. b) To provide counseling and guidance to both the children and the parents in particular. c) Advocating for children's rights as enshrined in the national children's act and elsewhere in international charters. d) To create human rights awareness in African communities. e) To put up structures that will empower and support the needy in their welfare and other emotional needs. f) To engage in art and craft making for the benefit of vulnerable children and empowerment of women. g) Providing and enabling environment for talent identification development in young people. PROJECTS/PROGRAMS
A) SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
This program aims at reducing on the high levels of illiteracy and dependency burden of orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda and other regions of the Africa. The beneficiaries are supported with school fees, schaloristic materials and other essential needs. B) WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Save a Child Charity realizes the need to develop women's skills by empowering the women in life saving skills, teaching the women who are illiterate, improvising the research materials for reading. C) YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
This is a project targeting the youth. This helps them know and stand by their rights, developing their talents in different areas, counseling and guidance and motivating them to study. D) LEGAL AID SERVICES
This project aims at offering free legal services so as to contribute to the reduction of human rights abuse like domestic violence, defilement and r**e in order to create a conducive environment for the children and the community at large. E) WATER AND SANITATION
SACC respects that water is life, this project aims at improving the hygiene around the water bodies, cleaning of schools, market places and healthy centres. Construction of boreholes and provision of tap water. F) ART AND CRAFT MAKING
at SACC we train young people how to make necklaces, bungles, bags, bracelets, ear rings and other African materials. These are sold at exhibitions, churches, trade shows, and at the organization premises. G) THE FOOD PROJECT/ FARMING. At the food project, we believe that all children and adults should have access to fresh, healthy and affordable food. The food project hires land and grows mixed foods like beans, sweet potatoes, cassava, ground nuts, maize and vegetables. Sustainable agriculture is the practice of growing this food in a way that preserves and enhances the environment, provides economic opportunity and good health for individuals, communities and connects people to the land around them. We work as a SACC team, teens, and volunteers. We grow food to support Save a child Charity feeding program to the registered orphans and vulnerable children, donate food and seeds to the hungry children and families in different communities. H) ELDERLY COMMUNITY OUTREACH. Save a Child Charity is sensitive to the needs of our elderly group, we believe that opportunities for life should not be limited because of one's age. This leads our caring staff members to provide services that cater to both the emotional and physical needs. We provide assistance with a variety of issues affecting the elderly including food, safe water, homecare, and exercise activities. This program is free of charge. I) AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM. Save a Child Charity is aware of the growing need for quality after-school services to support young students and working families. We provide an after school program for the children at primary level are fully supported in and out of the classroom. SACC recruits volunteers that offer remedial assistance to students with homework assignments, holiday packages and preparation for exams. J) FUNCTIONAL ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM. ( FAL)
This program provides skills in reading, writing, numeracy skills and other useful knowledge and skills acquired such as learning how to improve on sanitation and hygiene at household level, the care and nutrition of children ( breast feeding, immunization, balanced diet ) ,use of boiling water, use of rubbish pits, family panning and many others. These classes are conducted and supervised by our trained facilitators and instructors to ensure that the adult learners can continue searching for knowledge and skills that will help them improve on whatever activities they are engaged in for the betterment of their lives and the communities where there they live. VOLUNTEER FOR SAVE A CHILD CHARITY
Save a Child Charity has a small team of staff and with no interns and volunteers. If you have free time and would like to do your bit of charity, or your a student interested in working with the children, youth and families. Volunteer roles can be in office, or in the field, we will try to match your skills and interests with any available roles in SACC.
