🌍 Uganda-Based Innovator Nominated for Global Leadership Prize
Kampala, Uganda — The founder of GCED Toons, a creative education initiative using animation to teach global citizenship and sustainability, has been nominated for the Tällberg-SNF-Eliasson Global Leadership Prize, a prestigious international award recognizing leaders driving meaningful global impact.
The nomination highlights a journey that began with a vision to use creativity, animation, and storytelling to empower young people, particularly in understanding global issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change, and digital literacy.
Through GCED Toons, the team develops animated content designed to make complex global topics accessible and engaging for children and youth. The initiative also explores the use of AI tools and digital media to enhance learning and creativity.
Speaking about the nomination, the founder said it represents “a journey that started with no funding, but with a strong belief in using storytelling to transform education and empower young people.”
While the recognition marks a significant milestone, the team emphasized that the work is still growing, with plans to expand educational content and reach more learners globally.
GCED Toons continues to position itself at the intersection of education, technology, and creative media, aiming to inspire the next generation of global citizens.
