Green Village Children Centre (GVCC) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-religious district based organization that was founded in June 2006. The purpose of this project is to enhance education and Learning of Children in 5 villages namely, Kasana, Kalagala, Lwabikere, Kayunga and Kitenga. Green Village Children Centre has a secretariat in Masaka District and a liaison office in Kampala. The
NGO currently implements projects in Mukungwe Sub County of Masaka District. The proposed project is to be implemented in Lwabikere community/village. Lwabikere community which has an estimated population of 2,408 people of whom 1,235 are children. The community has a very high number of HIV/AIDS cases β there are currently over 200 families affected by HIV/AIDS and of the 1,235 children in Lwabikere, 818 are orphans and vulnerable children and 23 of these are HIV positive. There is 1 primary school located at Kitenga Primary and itβs over 10miles from lwabikere, the main trading center and it is a universal primary school with over 3000 pupil. The few children who can manage to get to school have to walk over 10 miles and through thick bushes which puts them at risk of being kidnapped for ritual sacrifice by witch doctors and for the girls of being r***d.
