This week, we completed the handover of three solar-powered safe water systems in Northern and Western Uganda. Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya, Avogera Health Centre Ill, and Kigwera Health Centre Ill in Bulisa District.

These solar powered water systems are strengthening maternal care, hygiene, and overall service delivery, supporting health workers and the communities they serve.

Engineers Without Borders East Africa, together with Engineers Without Borders USA, the Rotary Clubs of Kansas City South and Kericho, and A.I.C. Litein Hospital, recently conducted a technical assessment to address critical water, sanitation, and energy challenges at Litein Hospital in Kenya.

The hospital currently depends on three water sources: a spring (100,000 L/day), a borehole (48,000 L/day), and rooftop harvesting (40,000 L/day). Despite these, water shortages persist as demand continues to grow.

Our team reviewed the systems, collected new data, and developed a feasibility direction to ensure clean, reliable water and sustainable wastewater solutions for the future.

๐Ÿ’ง Imagine a hospital without clean water or toilets. For millions, it's a harsh reality. (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) in healthcare facilities isnโ€™t a luxuryโ€”itโ€™s life-saving.

๐Ÿ“ At Dabani Hospital in Busia, the maternity ward had no running water until 2023. Today, mothers give birth in safer, cleaner conditions, thanks to WASH upgrades that changed everything.
