Celebrating Leadership, Growth, and Lasting Impact: A Proud YASI Alumna:

It was a pleasure meeting Ms. Viola Nanteza once again — the outgoing Speaker of Nyimbwa Sub-County in Luwero District and a current aspirant for the Speakership of Luwero District.

Ms. Nanteza is a distinguished alumna of the East African Youth Inclusion Program (EAYIP), through which she received training in policy and advocacy under a partnership involving YASI, Heifer International, and MUCOBAD. During the programme, she demonstrated exceptional commitment, intellectual curiosity, and leadership promise. Her outstanding performance later earned her appointment to the The Mastercard Foundation Youth Panel, and she is now actively contributing to Uganda’s local governance landscape through her leadership role at the district level.

As YASI, we are immensely proud of alumni like Viola who continue to translate knowledge into measurable impact and leadership into meaningful public service.

We were honored to reconnect during our recent meeting at Golden Tulip Kampala, where she expressed sincere appreciation to YASI for the role the organization has played in shaping her leadership journey. She also renewed her commitment to actively re-engage with YASI as she pursues even greater aspirations, affirming her belief that YASI remains a strong and enabling platform to help her reach her full potential.

We deeply value Ms. Nanteza’s gesture of returning to appreciate and reconnect. Such actions reflect character, humility, and authentic leadership. We do not take this for granted. Indeed, it reminds us that while institutions may impact many lives, it is those who recognize, apply, and build upon that foundation who truly exemplify transformational leadership.

Viola’s journey is part of a broader story of impact. We proudly celebrate her alongside fellow young leaders such as Abdul of ZIKA, Steven — who was appointed to serve in the Buganda Kingdom — and many other young people grounding themselves under Jua Group and prospering in business through the cooperative societies model. This model was promoted through our partnership with Heifer International and with the support of The Mastercard Foundation, empowering youth not only in leadership but also in enterprise development and sustainable livelihoods.

We equally commend Ms. Nanteza and her team in Luwero for having been diligent and engaged learners during the training sessions, and for continuing to apply those lessons in practical governance and leadership today. (See attached photos of Ms. Viola Nanteza and her Youth Panel representation recognition letter as testament to this continued excellence.)

YASI encourages Ms. Viola Nanteza to consider applying for the Makerere University Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program funded by The Mastercard Foundation and/or the Konrad Adenauer Masters’ Scholarships offered by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. YASI gladly pledges to offer institutional guidance and recommendation support should she express interest in either opportunity.

We equally encourage all EAYIP participants and YASI Club members to explore such scholarship pathways and other academic advancement opportunities, as part of our continued commitment to nurturing globally competitive, ethically grounded, and impact-driven leaders.

Alumni like Viola inspire us to remain steadfast in our mission — to mentor, train, and empower young leaders consistently and with excellence, knowing that long-term impact is built through dedication, integrity, and sustained support.

We wish her continued success in her current aspirations and look forward to meaningful collaboration in the journey ahead.

With pride and encouragement,
YASI Administration.

✨ Happy New Year 2026 from YASI! ✨

As we step into a new year, we celebrate the power of youth, partnerships, and purpose. Since 2005, the Youth After School Initiative (YASI) has continued to empower young people to transition from education to opportunity—through skills development, leadership, enterprise support, and civic engagement.

In 2026, we recommit to:

Empowering youth and communities for sustainable development

Strengthening partnerships and volunteerism

Driving policy influence, innovation, and global impact

This year also leads us to a major milestone — the YASI Global Horizons Summit 2026, where youth, partners, and global actors will come together to shape the future.

Thank you to our members, volunteers, partners, and friends for walking this journey with us. Together, we move from the box to the horizon.
