Teach For Uganda

Teach For Uganda We are nurturing leaders who are committed to advancing equitable access to quality education in low-income communities.

Teach For Uganda (TFU) is a locally-rooted and globally informed leadership development organization that is fully registered since 2016 as a non-profit organization in Uganda. We leverage the power and knowledge of promising future leaders to ensure that one day, all children in Uganda attain an excellent education, enabling them to thrive in constantly changing economies. Through our 2-year Fell

owship, we recruit and train Uganda’s top university graduates and young professionals from all academic backgrounds into full-time teacher-leaders and place them in high-need rural and underserved government schools to drastically improve the learning and life outcomes of children in far-flung communities. Our Fellowship is designed to give young leaders meaningful and impactful experiences at the heart of Uganda’s education challenge. Informed by their experience, alumni of the program (and, over time, their students) will work from inside and outside the education system to affect the fundamental changes necessary to ensure equitable access to quality education for all children in Uganda. Post fellowship, our alumni will join a network of like-minded leaders committed to the collective mission of nurturing leaders who are committed to advancing equitable access to quality education in low-income communities. We will also support our alumni to build their leadership capacity as educators, social entrepreneurs, and policymakers.

💡 “I want to become a doctor.” — Okello Samuel, Age 11

Teach For Uganda is committed to ensuring every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education and the opportunity to realize their potential.

We do this by recruiting, training, and placing Uganda’s top university graduates from all academic backgrounds to commit 2 years to serving as full-time teachers in public schools. This drastically improves children’s learning and life outcomes while developing their leadership skills.

Samuel’s dream reminds us why we do what we do: one day, all children in Uganda will attain an equitable quality education.

Together, we can build a generation of changemakers committed to advancing equitable access to quality education for children in underserved communities.

Our Managing Director & Co-founder, Mrs. Charlotte Iraguha, addressed the Rotary Club of Kitante on the theme: “Unlocking Uganda’s Potential: How We Can Change the Story Before Age 10.”

In her keynote, she emphasized that early childhood education is the single most powerful investment Uganda can make in its future. By ensuring children receive quality learning opportunities before age 10, we can transform not only their individual outcomes but also the nation’s trajectory.

Her presentation drew on the work of Teach For Uganda, demonstrating how early interventions create ripple effects in communities, strengthen families, and unlock the country’s human capital.

We thank Rotary Club of Kitante for convening this critical conversation and look forward to continued partnerships that prioritize education equity and early childhood development.
