Mission: - our mission focuses on:-
• Inclusive Education for all Visually Impaired (VI) Children.
• Advocacy for the children’s Human Rights and mostly the right to Education.
• Provide, Coordinate Education and Training opportunities for Visually Impaired Children.
• Provide assistive technology, adaptive devices, and related services for the children's daily use;
• Provide Psychosocial, Mentoring/Support programs for the children and their families. Profile

The Center for Visually Impaired Children – Uganda (CEVIC – Uganda), was founded in 2009 by Parents of Visually Impaired Children. The parents of Visually Impaired Children were motivated by the desire to provide education to their children, having failed to find appropriate schools for these young ones. In this part of the country (Kampala, Wakiso and Mpigi Districts), children in the demographic category of 4 – 13 years, could not find a school that fits in their profile. Visual Impairment like any other disability comes with psychosocial challenges. These challenges are often associated with financial limitations to both the individual and the community. In the absence of both psychosocial and financial support, many VI Children are kept in the backyard, not given medical treatment, segregated some homes and hence not given opportunities like their ordinary counter parts and therefore relegated to the lowest stratum of society. CEVIC – Uganda was therefore founded as an intervention to offer education, psychosocial and financial support to the parents and VI children. Geographical Outreach - We operate in Kampala, Mpigi and Wakiso Districts. We operate an office and an education Center at Buziga Kiruddu (off Ggaba Road). Here we have 10 children scattered between Nursery School and Primary 5. We undertake outreaches at Kitemu Integrated Primary School and Mabuye Katende Primary School in Wakiso and Mpigi Districts respectively. We support parents to ensure that VIC go to school. We closely work with UNAB (the Uganda National Association for the Blind) and Sight Savers International (Uganda Country Office) who have previously supported us . Activities
Our intervention covers 42 children, of which, 20 are at CEVIC School for the Blind, and 2 have been integrated and are now Primary Seven Candidates at Kireka Hill Infant Day & Boarding Primary School. 5 are at Kitemu Integrate Primary School and 10 at Mabuye Katende Primary School while 5 are below the School going age. The 5 Children mentioned above are receiving psychosocial support through our outreach program manned by our Outreach staff. CEVIC SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths
• Though small, CEVIC is one of the few centers offering practical teaching to Visually Impaired Children in Uganda.
• Having mobilized internal resources (financial & non Financial) to sustain our operations for the last 9 years demonstrates our commitment and zeal for the cause of VI Children.
• We acquired our own land on which we plan to build a School Weaknesses
• We are vulnerable when it comes to recruiting, retaining and training of specialized staff and Teachers for VI Children.
• We are currently experiencing infrastructural limitations this hinders from increasing the Learners’ numbers in the School. Opportunity
• We have attained experience & exposure resulting from our interaction with VI Children and their parents. This has enabled us to understand the opportunities & challenges of dealing with VI Children and their communities.
• We have the opportunity to expand our services to the VI Children. We have the will to expand & establish a day & Boarding, Mixed inclusive primary school. Threats
• Handing over our VI Children to other administrators lowers their rate of progression due to limited support and appreciation accorded to VI Children, and over time, our investment in the VI Children is lost along the way which leads to school dropouts. The Current Resource base:-
