The Rotary Club of Makindye had the privilege of hosting the District Governor, Gerald Obai on his official visit to the club, accompanied by Assistant Governor Daniel Babonereirwe.

The visit reaffirmed the club's commitment to Rotary's mission while providing an opportunity to reflect on its achievements and align its vision with the priorities of District 9213.

In her remarks, Club President Florence Najjemba M. outlined the club's aspirations for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, with a strong focus on growing membership, strengthening fellowship, delivering sustainable community projects, supporting The Rotary Foundation, and building strategic partnerships to amplify impact.

Inspiring members to think beyond the ordinary, District Governor, Gerald Obai challenged the club to embrace innovation and intentional service, reminding them, "Let us focus on the crazy ideas and the little things that matter."

He emphasized that transformative change often begins with bold ideas, strengthened by simple, consistent acts of service. His message resonated deeply with members, reinforcing Rotary's enduring commitment to creating meaningful and lasting impact in the communities it serves.

Over the weekend, the Rotary Club of Makindye successfully held its Board-Elect Training at Roots Restaurant in Nakasero under the leadership of President-Elect Mrs. Florence Najjemba Musoke.

The training brought together incoming Board members, officers and committee leaders, who were guided on their roles, responsibilities, district goals, reporting requirements and the importance of working together as one team.

Speaking during the training, Mrs. Florence Najjemba Musoke said:

“Strong leadership begins with preparation, teamwork and a shared commitment to service. This training has equipped us to work together effectively and make a meaningful difference in our club and the communities we serve.”

The sessions were facilitated by PAG Waira and Assistant Governor Gorette Kyeyune. Members also participated in interactive discussions and team-building activities that strengthened cooperation and created an enjoyable learning environment.

The training marked a strong beginning for the incoming leadership team and reaffirmed the Rotary Club of Makindye’s commitment to effective leadership, teamwork and service to the community.

Deeply humbled and truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as President of the Rotary Club of Makindye for the Rotary Year 2026/27.

Thank you all for attending and honoring this special occasion — our distinguished Chief Guest, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, representing the Katikkiro of the Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, Rotarians, Rotaractors, friends, family, and mentors who have walked this journey with me over the years.

Special appreciation to my mother for her unwavering love and presence and to all past presidents and leaders whose guidance, encouragement, and mentorship shaped my Rotary journey. From serving in different capacities over the past 22 years to now leading this incredible club, I remain inspired by the Rotary spirit of “Service Above Self.”

As I take on this responsibility, I do so with humility, commitment, and a promise to serve with integrity and dedication. Together, let us continue transforming lives and creating lasting impact in our communities.

A memorable and inspiring evening at Kampala Club as the Rotary Club of Makindye proudly installs its 38th President, Najjemba Florence Musoke, succeeding President John Kugonza. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa representing the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Owek’ Charles Peter Mayiga.

An evening filled with leadership, fellowship, celebration, and a shared commitment to service above self as Rotarians, friends, and guests came together to witness this special transition of leadership. Here’s to a new chapter of growth, unity, and meaningful community service.
