Hope Shine Uganda, formerly Teenage Mothers Outreach (TEMO), is a registered, non-profit organisation operating in Kampala’s slums. We serve girls in crisis pregnancies (teenage mothers) and women, by providing medical care, food, education and sustainable livelihood programs like vocational training programs. We create opportunities for vulnerable women and girls in the slums to break the cycle o

f poverty and THRIVE. We believes that by empowering and inspiring these women and girls to achieve their financial freedom through entrepreneurship for income generation, they will make informed decisions and to live their full God-given potential.

Avako Emily graduated from the fashion and design class, last year 2025.

When she joined Hope Shine Vocational, Emily was struggling to provide for her 3 children. She needed to learn a skill to be able to work.

In addition to the tailoring classes, Emily was a part of a business project at Hope shine where she learnt how to make Peanut butter and snacks.

Currently, she manages a small kiosk in Namuwongo where she does sewing using the machine that she was given at Hope Shine.

When we met her recently, she was in the process of expanding into the peanut butter business to boost her income.

She says that she is now able to take care of her children comfortably. We couldn’t be more proud!

‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ Acts 20:35

Last season, Sanctuary Farm had an abundant harvest. Recognizing the need beyond the immediate communities we serve, we identified institutions that could use some food.

So far, we have visited two schools, bringing meals to students who would otherwise go without, and we have been to three organizations. That makes five institutions, now able to provide the people they serve with some food relief.

We are grateful for every opportunity to give. And for you, who make it possible.

As parts of the country continue to face a hunger crisis, we wanted to step in and be a blessing through the first harvest from our farm.

Recently, the principal of Salama School for the Blind, reached out to us with a request for food support. We promised her that as soon as our corn was harvested and milled, her school would be one of our very first stops.

Today, we were honored to keep that promise by delivering this much-needed food. We believe the first fruits belong to the Lord, and it brings us great joy to dedicate this first harvest by blessing this wonderful school.

This is only the beginning. In the coming days, we look forward to sharing God’s provision with more individuals and communities who are struggling.

Meet Abo Immaculate, a first time mother and one of the many pregnant women who showed up for our medical camp.

She received quality healthcare in the form of a scan, a one on one talk with a doctor, and a mama Kit to welcome her baby boy.

Every Friday afternoon, we pause all the work and study at Hopeshine for a staff and students’ fellowship.

Jesus is at the center of everything we do and this is a time specially set aside to praise, worship and pray together.

Meet some of the workers behind our farm at the Sanctuary Village. Many more join during planting, weeding and harvesting seasons.

God has not only provided the land and what grows from it, but He has also sent the people to tend it.

Employing people from the local community means that alongside feeding vulnerable families in Namuwongo, we are also creating livelihoods and improving the lives of those closest to the land.

Our first corn harvest is here!🌽

Yesterday, some of our staff spent the day at the farm bringing in the harvest, and we took the Esther House girls along for the experience. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to enjoy a short trip outside HopeShine, while learning where the food that blesses so many families grows.

Everyone worked incredibly hard, and we were amazed by the size of the cobs! The harvest has been truly abundant, and our farm workers continue to gather what remains in the fields.

The corn is almost ready for milling into cornmeal, which will help feed vulnerable mothers and families, during our next monthly feed.
