When an artiste listens to a song, he/she pays attention to elements a music fan doesn’t listen to. At Uganda Lyricist Lounge (ULL), Lyricism is key! ULL is a Hip Hop paltform initiated in 2012 by a group of 5 young indigenous Hip Hop artistes with the aim of influencing the tide of Ugandan Hip Hop music by providing a platform where artistes can showcase their craft and hone their skills through
training workshops. Since inception, ULL has been organising monthly events where it offers a creative fusion of various elements of music with Hip Hop, focusing entirely on Lyricism. Over time these have garnered a huge following not only in the Hip Hop fraternity but even among lovers of other genres of music. Currently, ULL runs a quaterly grand Hip Hop Event dubbed; ‘HIPHOP UNPLUGGED’ at Uganda National Cultural and the debut event in March 2015 was a resounding success. Through partnerships, we have managed to reach out to artistes and movements from other regions of the country that travel hundreds of miles to showcase, thereby giving ULL recognition as a nation-wide Hip Hop platform. Through the spirit of creative collaborations we hope to work with Hip Hop artistes, Hip Hop fraternities and affiliates across the region to create art that transcends borders.
