Yesterday, July 14th, 2026, a significant milestone in environmental advocacy was achieved. As the Institute for Social Transformation with support from the Korea Hope Foundation, hosted a high-impact Climate Awareness Campaign and Candle Nut tree-planting event at All Saints Junior and Preparatory School, Gayaza Uganda.
The youthful energy and enthusiastic participation radiated hope and determination, as the community came together to champion the cause of climate action and become champions of our environment!
This commendable initiative attracted over 265 participants, including students, teachers, parents, and IST staff, marking a unified community effort to tackle the pressing issue of climate change.
The Climate Awareness Campaign was designed to empower and educate the next generation about the realities of climate change. Attendees participated in meaningful discussions, sharing local solutions and actionable strategies to mitigate environmental degradation. This initiative not only aims to raise awareness but also encourages families to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
A major highlight of this empowerment was the official launch of the school’s newly formed Green Cadres Club.
This club puts the steering wheel of climate action directly into the hands of the learners, transforming them into active, self-driven environmental leaders who will spearhead future conservation efforts at the school. To ensure that the lessons learned resonate long after the event, the school grounds now feature vibrant "compound talking points" with permanent messages that will serve as daily reminders for students, led by the Green Cadres, to actively protect their environment.
Another key highlight of the initiative was the planting of 52 Candlenut trees (Kabaka Anjagala), meticulously chosen for their resilience and ecological benefits.
