WOMEN AND GIRLS EMPOWERMENT
There are many challenges impending full enjoyment of women’s rights in Uganda such as Female Ge***al Mutilation, forced marriages, child marriages, widow inheritance, discriminatory inheritance, harmful practices, lack ofland rights, poverty, inequality, high maternal mortality rate, harmful cultural practices, gender based violence, insecurity of women and high incidences of school drop outs . All these problem continue to prevail in both rural and urban areas of the country and the gaps between policy and practice to reinforce the state of women’s rights in Uganda continue to be grim. At HELP Uganda we strive to empower girls and women to challenge discrimination and also overcome some of these problems.
