Who gets to tell the story matters.
For a long time, many of us grew up learning history and geography through narratives written from outside our communities. Yet the people who lived these stories often had knowledge, names, and perspectives that never made it into the conversation.
That is why it's encouraging to see more Ugandans contributing to Wikipedia.
When local people document local knowledge, we build a richer, more accurate record of who we are, where we come from, and how we understand our world.
Our stories deserve to be told by the people who know them best.
