Rescue Women Foundation, a local Ugandan Non-Governmental Organization, is premised on the notion that empowering women and girls can lift them and the society around them out of poverty thereby contributing to development several-fold. The center supports teenage mothers through a ‘Triple R’ appr
oach. First, the program ‘Rescues’ underage girls who have been sexually abused and become pregnant. Second, we ‘Rehabilitate’ the young mothers through various activities including prayer and counselling, prenatal care, postnatal care, health talks, and other health activities. Lastly, we ‘Restore’ the young mothers by equipping them with skills that will allow them to be resilient and to survive a harsh and hostile world. Such skills include entrepreneurship (e.g., tailoring, shoe making, and hairdressing, among others).
