A wonderful day at Royal Junior School, Uganda 🇺🇬

We were honored to welcome the Danish Muslim Aid sponsors of our school gardening programme, to Royal Junior School in Bunyangabu district.Their visit provided an opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of the school gardening and feeding initiatives they support.

The headmistress guided the visitors through the school gardens, explaining the different crops being grown, including rice, and how the programme contributes to children’s nutrition, learning, and practical agricultural skills. The visitors were also warmly welcomed by pupils through songs, dances, and cultural performances that showcased the spirit and talent of the school community.

We are grateful to DMAID for their continued partnership and commitment to improving the lives of children through sustainable school gardening and feeding programmes. Together, we are planting seeds for a healthier and brighter future.

A year ago, pupils of Royal Junior School relied on an open water source that exposed them to health risks. Today, thanks to the generous support of Danish Muslim Aidthe school has access to clean and safe water through a newly constructed borehole. No girl should ever have to choose between her period and her education. In 2025, we began this journey by bringing together headteachers, district leaders, and key stakeholders for an advocacy meeting on menstrual hygiene management. Together, we are creating safer, more inclusive, and period-friendly schools. This initiative is proudly supported by Danish Muslim Aidand civil society in development. Part 1—stay tuned for Part 2!
