32º East | Ugandan Arts Trust

32º East | Ugandan Arts Trust 32° East provides artists with the support, resources, and community they need to advance their craft, critically reflect our world, and imagine a new one.

Our award-winning ecological centre can be found in Kabalagala, Kampala and includes studios, a contemporary art library and co-working space, computers, meeting areas and lush garden. Our programme offers the visual arts community opportunities for connection through our monthly meet-ups and global networks, provides artists-in-residence with resources to advance their practice, and builds new audiences through Kampala’s longest-running contemporary art festival KLA ART.

Join us next Friday 29th May from 2PM for this month's meeting of the AC Zine Club!

"In these many ways African liberation movements brought alive feminist questions of how we define oppression and how willing we are to embrace depatriarchalisation along with the widely held commitment to decolonisation. It is disappointing how consistently revolutionary movements stumble in refusing to meet the fuller transformation offered by women's renegade brilliance. Yet despite these disrespectful elisions women continue to rise up on principle, summoning the courage to risk for better worlds."

We will meet to make one-page zines honouring the "excellent wayward women" in our lives inspired by the many courageous women mentioned in Chapter 2 of Jessica Horn's book African Feminist Praxis.

See you next week!
