Empowering Youth Through Beekeeping in Zombo District.
SMART SAM'S SERVICE FOUNDATION UGANDA has launched an impactful beekeeping project aimed at transforming livelihoods among youth in Zombo District. The initiative targets young people in Paidha Sub County, Nyapea Sub County, Athuma Sub County, and Abanga Sub County, with a goal of directly benefiting 450 youth households.
The project, titled β Beekeeping the Traditional Way β Easy & Affordable to Start, Maintain, and Economically Rewarding,β focuses on equipping youth with practical skills in traditional beekeeping methods. These methods are cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and accessible to rural communities.
Currently, hands-on training is underway in Mundhel Village, where over 30 beehives have already been set up and are performing well. Participants are actively learning how to construct, manage, and harvest from the hives, gaining valuable knowledge that can generate sustainable income.
This initiative is expected to expand to other parts of Zombo District, contributing to broader economic empowerment and self-reliance among youth. By promoting beekeeping, the foundation is not only improving household incomes but also encouraging environmental conservation.
The project is led by Kumakech Sam, Founder and Executive Director of SMART SAM'S SERVICE FOUNDATION UGANDA & the Foundation team of Staffs, whose vision is to create lasting opportunities for young people through practical and scalable solutions.
