The UNSO 2027 Official Invite Letter and the 2027 Research Problems are ready! However, they only come after your school submits its Expression of Interest. 😃

And yes, this applies to everyone, schools that have participated with us before and schools joining UNSO for the very first time. Every school starts the 2027 journey with a fresh EOI 😎.

The good news? It takes just about 30 seconds. And there is absolutely no payment required at this stage. You are simply telling us, “Yes, our school wants to be part of the UNSO 2027.”

We could tell you what the Uganda National Science Olympiad feels like. But this time, we let the students do the talking. 😃.

By the end of the tournament, their experience had become bigger than rankings, medals or trophies. It became confidence. Curiosity. Friendship. The courage to speak. The humility to be questioned. And, as one student beautifully put it, “the art of being a scientist.”

This is the 09th Uganda National Science Olympiad, told through the eyes of the students who lived it.

𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆… 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁, 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁. 😂

One day. Hundreds of young scientists. Months of research. Presentations defended. Arguments challenged. Evidence questioned. Medals won. A National Champion crowned.

But beneath all of that is the idea we have spent nine years building: science should ask more of a young person than remembering the correct answer.

It should ask them to investigate.
To question.
To defend evidence.
To listen when someone disagrees.
And sometimes, to change their mind.

That is what happens inside our Science Fights.
That is what we have been building for nine years.

And this… was 𝗨𝗡𝗦𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.🐝

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀: We recognise the students who distinguished themselves in each of the three central roles of the Science Fights at the UNSO 2026.

Best Reporter - Ssebulime Sheldon Jonathan of King’s College

Best Opponent - Kateega Arthur Anthony of Namilyango College

Best Reviewer - Nyende Louise Daniella of Gayaza High School

The Foundation also recognised six Students of the Year, young participants who had gone considerably beyond competing for their own teams and had taken on leadership roles within their respective schools.

The six awardees were Aris Favor of Uganda Martyrs Namugongo, Laura Thekla of Nabisunsa Girls, Raphael Jude of Acorns International School, Janice Charlene of Taibah International School, Alele Queen of Immaculate Heart Nyakibale, and Ssekayombya Barnabas of Merryland Entebbe.

In many respects, these students were “mini chaperones” within their schools. They regularly stepped in to support their school patrons, mobilised fellow students, lobbied internally for their teams and the programme, followed up on participation arrangements and helped ensure that their schools remained actively represented in Science Olympiad activities.

We are proud of them all, and are appreciative of their efforts.
