“AFTER THESE things, King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him. And all the king's servants who were at the king's gate bowed down and did reverence to Haman, for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow down or do him reverence. Then the king's servants who were at the king's gate said to Mordecai, Why do you transgress the king's command? Now when they spoke to him day after day and he paid no attention to them, they told Haman to see whether Mordecai's conduct would stand, for he had told them that he was a Jew. And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down or do him reverence, he was very angry. But he scorned laying hands only on Mordecai. So since they had told him Mordecai's nationality, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.”
Esther 3:1-6 AMPC
The life of all Jews was at stake; it was all in the hands of Mordecai. The Agagite man Haman had sworn to kill everyone; not only Mordecai.
The origin of the Agagite man is seen in the book of 1 Samuel when Saul is sent to kill all the Amelekites.
“Now go and smite Amalek and utterly destroy all they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and donkey. And he took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, though he utterly destroyed all the rest of the people with the sword. Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, oxen, fatlings, lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them; but all that was undesirable or worthless they destroyed utterly.”
1 Samuel 15:3, 8-9 AMPC
The instruction was kill everything that has breath: Saul spared Agag and etc.
There are battles this our generation is fighting today that we’re not supposed to be fighting but we’re into it becasue perhaps our forefathers did not do what was required of them. Mordecai’s life and the lives of the Jews wouldn’t be at stake if Agag wasn’t spared in the battle.
What is that one thing that you have noticed in your life, in your family, in your circle of friends, in your community, in your school, in your church, and in your country that needs to be worked upon now: if not changed now; it will find the generation that is coming out of you.
Now is the time that you have to change things; Remember, Change begins with you and now!
