We want to share a massive congratulations to Nyapendi for graduating with a bachelor's degree in secretarial and administrative studies.

Nyapendi excelled in her initial vocational training course sponsored through HFL, and was offered a half bursary to pursue her degree. With the help of many of you, we were able to step in and fund the rest of the degree fees.

From the crowded lanes of Katanga to the professional corridors of law firms. She has redefined what is possible for herself and others like her.

We are dedicated to walking side by side with these young ladies who sought to change their futures.

Turning Creativity into Hope – Support Hope for Life Katanga

Spring reminds us that new life, new beginnings, and hope are always possible. Just like the return of the swifts, we are reminded that even small actions can bring powerful change.

We are inspired by initiatives like the Swiftathon using creativity and community to raise support for those affected by real challenges.

At Hope for Life Katanga, this is exactly what we stand for: bringing people together to uplift lives in our community.

In Katanga, many families are still facing daily struggles—food, education, and basic needs. But together, we can make a difference.

Join us in bringing hope:

* Support our work through donations
* Share our mission with your network
* Partner with us to create impact

Whether through art, fundraising, or simple acts of kindness your support matters.

Let’s continue to build a future where hope is not just a word, but a reality.

Congratulation Latifah on your graduation.

Latifah dropped out of school in Primary Four. She restarted school through Hope for Life and completed Senior Four. She later joined the YMCA to pursue Nursery Teaching. Despite family hardships, she excelled and was retained at her internship school. She has now formally graduated and is able to support her siblings’ school fees. Her transformation is remarkable.

We've increased our focus on mental health awareness and support in 2025. We've incorporated more workshops into our existing programmes, facilitated more one to one counselling sessions, and have put on events in and for the wider community.

A mental health workshop was organized and facilitated by expert partners, targeting those we work with directly and the wider community. The main objectives were to enhance awareness, reduce stigma and promote mental well-being.

Participants learned how to recognize the signs of mental health challenges, different effective coping strategies, and the role of community support in mental wellness.

Each month we visit families at home, in schools and in places of work to monitor academic progress and personal welfare. This visits reinforce strong relationships between the programme team, children, families and schools.

Meetings with parents and guardians emphasize their critical role in their children’s education. Parents were encouraged to monitor homework, support revision routines and nurture their children’s emotional well-being.

We took significant steps toward fostering a deeper connection between the young women and the families of the beneficiaries. A crucial meeting was organized with the guardians of the new entrants. This session aimed to create a collaborative environment where guardians were equipped with the knowledge and tools to effectively guide and support their daughters.

During the meeting, a comprehensive overview of the program was provided outlining the program’s objectives, expectations and the vital role guardians play in their daughters’ success. The session emphasized how continuous support and involvement from guardians are essential in shaping the young women’s futures and ensuring they can make the most of the opportunities available to them.
