Yesterday, the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) / Commonwealth Games Uganda (CGU) Executive Committee held a session on the roles, mandates and compliance requirements of Directors, facilitated by Mr. Muliisa Solomon, Senior Registration Officer at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

The session provided valuable insights into the roles and responsibilities of Directors, as well as the governance and compliance requirements under Uganda’s Companies Act.

Key areas highlighted included statutory reporting, holding of meetings, extraction of resolutions, and the timely filing of returns with URSB.

UOC/CGU remains committed to upholding the highest standards of good governance, accountability and compliance across the organisation.

The next step will be to conduct a similar session for our members, further strengthening governance practices across the Olympic Movement in Uganda.

The spirit of the Youth Olympic Games is alive in Uganda!

Today, 12 September 2026, the Dakar 2026 Flame Tour brought the Olympic spirit to Green Valley Primary School, Magigye, in Gayaza, bringing together children and communities through sport, play and culture.

The day was filled with fun and engaging local games and activities, including rope skipping, dancing, races, bottle filling and bottle racing, Ludo, Mweso, and many more.

Implemented by the Uganda Olympic Committee Olympic Values Education and Culture Commission, the activity celebrated the values at the heart of the Olympic Movement, unity, friendship, respect, hope and inspiration.

As Uganda joins the global journey towards Dakar 2026, the first Olympic event to be held on African soil, the message remains clear:

WE RUN FOR AFRICA.

From Uganda to Dakar, we celebrate young people, sport and the power of the Olympic spirit to bring communities together.

Strengthening Digital Communications Across African NOCs

The 2nd ANOC Digital Communications Seminar in Varese, Italy, brought together 38 National Olympic Committees and 54 representatives to explore the future of sports and Olympic communications under the theme “Road to Dakar: Communicate. Engage. Inspire.”

Key discussions focused on Artificial Intelligence, athlete storytelling, fan engagement, reaching younger audiences, crisis communications, and measuring digital impact.

For African NOCs, the seminar highlighted the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing and amplifying African athlete stories as we prepare for Dakar 2026.

For NOC Uganda, the experience provides valuable insights and practical ideas to strengthen digital communications, enhance athlete-centred storytelling and engage new audiences through technology and data.

NOC Uganda at the 2nd ANOC Digital Communications Seminar | Varese, Italy 🇮🇹

Uganda is participating in the 2nd ANOC Digital Communications Seminar in Varese, Italy, represented by our Branding and Communications Lead/Officer, Ms. Harriet Ocheng.

Day 1 brought together NOC communications professionals from around the world to share experiences and explore new ways of telling the Olympic story in an evolving digital landscape.

Key sessions explored AI in Sport Communications, including the IOC’s Trustworthy AI Framework, practical AI workflows, and how AI can help teams work faster, smarter and more creatively while maintaining authenticity.

Discussions also covered the Olympic Channel and Dakar 2026, alongside NOC case studies from Vanuatu, Cyprus, New Zealand, Kenya and Brazil, highlighting creative storytelling, athlete-led content, community engagement, creators, social media and strategic use of limited resources.

For NOC Uganda, these insights are valuable as we continue strengthening our digital communications and storytelling around Ugandan athletes and the Olympic Movement.
