Commonwealth Sport President Dr. Rukare Donald and CEO Katie Sadleir are in New Zealand this week for the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) Annual General Assembly.

Discussions with ONOC President Baklai Temengil focused on the exciting journey ahead for Commonwealth Sport with Glasgow 2026, Malta 2027 and Amdavad 2030, and the important role Oceania continues to play in shaping the future of our Movement.

They also met with International Olympic Committee – IOC President Kirsty Coventry, reinforcing that Commonwealth Sport’s priorities align with those of the wider Olympic Movement: sustainability, flexibility, athlete-centred delivery, and ensuring major events remain viable and relevant in a rapidly changing world.

The day concluded with a Commonwealth Sport reception ahead of the Oceania Regional Meeting on Tuesday.

Oceania members continue to make a hugely important contribution to the strength, diversity and future direction of Commonwealth Sport, bringing leadership, innovation and a strong sense of community to our Movement. Thank you to ONOC for the warm welcome and valued partnership this week.
