Yesterday afternoon, Team Uganda athletes heading to the ANOCA Zone V Games in Nairobi, Kenya, scheduled for 25–27 August, were officially flagged off.

UOC/CGA President Dr Donald Rukare and UOC/CGA Nutrition Professor Rev. Muranga, Director General of the Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre (BIRDC), handed over highly nutritious Tooke products to the team.

This activity is part of the Legacy Programme of a 3year partnership between UOC and BIRDC. These products will help fuel Team Uganda as it competes in **athletics, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, cycling, judo, swimming and tennis**.

Team Uganda will also be represented by three refugee athletes at the Games.

The ANOCA Zone V Games will serve as an important preparatory event ahead of the Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal, later this year.

We wish Team Uganda the very best in Nairobi. We are proudly associated with BIRDC.

The ASMC Women’s Class brought the energy this weekend as they powered through Chapter 6: Organising a Major Sports Event.

With dynamic facilitation from Ms. Beatrice Ayikoru, the participants dove into the real essentials of event delivery — deciding to host, building legal and functional structures, planning and executing the event, mobilising and managing people, and securing the right amenities, sites, and spaces.

A vibrant, hands‑on session that sharpened the women’s confidence and readiness to lead major sport events across Uganda and beyond.
