๐Ÿšจ Project Update from Nakawuka ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ ๐ŸŒฑ

A total of 60 participants, divided into several groups, are currently undertaking practical training, and the response has been very positive. Participants then got the chance to apply what they learned in theory by participating in practical sessions, which they greatly valued.

Their passion and commitment have stood out, with many gaining a deeper understanding of honey production and beekeeping as both a source of income and a tool for environmental conservation.

Meanwhile, construction of the Nakawuka apiary is progressing well and will soon serve as a training and production site.

Overall, participants are gaining not only practical skills but also confidence toward a more secure and self-reliant future.

This initiative was made possible through partnership with Forum za enakopraven razvoj - FER, with support from Ministrstvo za zunanje in evropske zadeve RS / Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

At HOCW, we believe change starts within the community

In Ndejje Kibutika, seeds planted just three weeks ago are already making an impact. Families have received transplanted seedlings, along with practical urban farming skills to help them grow their own food.

With pesticides provided for crop protection and 5 tyres and 1 watering can per family for small-space gardening, even limited areas are being turned into sources of nourishment.

This is more than farming, itโ€™s about equipping families with the knowledge and tools to improve nutrition and build a stronger future.

We are grateful to our partners Forum za enakopraven razvoj - FER and the generous support from Ministrstvo za zunanje in evropske zadeve RS / Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs for making this possible. Together, we continue to nurture resilience and hope in our communities.

We are excited to share some great news from Ndejje! ๐Ÿ’ง

A production well has been successfully drilled at Little Bear Kindergarten and Primary School in Kanyanya. This is a major milestone, especially since much of Kanyanya lies on a hill, making access to clean water a daily challenge for many residents.

Before, it was hard to get a reliable water source for the nearby youth centre. Now, this challenge has become a great opportunitynot only for the youth, but also for the school and the whole Ndejje community.

This success shows the importance of strong partnerships. It wouldnโ€™t have been possible without Forum za enakopraven razvoj - FER and the support from Ministrstvo za zunanje in evropske zadeve RS / Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Together, we are transforming lives and building a healthier future for our community. ๐ŸŒโœจ

Today marks the 10th graduation ceremony of HOCW, and our hearts are full of pride and gratitude. ๐ŸŽ“

We celebrate the achievements of our graduates in tailoring, hairdressing, English, and computer skillsโ€”young people who have worked hard, grown in confidence, and are now ready to step into new opportunities.

This milestone is not just about numbers; it is a powerful reminder that together, we are creating change, building skills, and shaping brighter futures.

We made itโ€”and this is only the beginning. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

๐Ÿ Beekeeping Training for Sustainable Livelihoods - Nakawuka

We are delighted to offer hands-on beekeeping training to participants in Nakawuka, equipping them with practical skills in apiary management, honey production, and sustainable agriculture.

This training empowers young people and women to improve their food security, generate income, and build resilience to climate change. A teaching apiary and essential beekeeping equipment will support their continued learning and production.

This project was made possible through a strong partnership with Forum za enakopraven razvoj - FER and the support of the Ministrstvo za zunanje in evropske zadeve RS / Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

It has been a true honour to host a Participatory Budgeting Workshop with Darja at our Youth Centre! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒโœจ

This meaningful activity was made possible through the strong partnership with Forum za enakopraven razvoj - FER and with the generous support Ministrstvo za zunanje in evropske zadeve RS / Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿค๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒ.

Participatory budgeting is a transparent and democratic process where every young person has the opportunity to decide how a portion of the granted support should be spent. ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ฐ๐ŸŒฑ

At our Youth Centre, this means young people actively take part in decision-making and financial planning. They share ideas, set priorities, and help design a centre that truly responds to their needs. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿพ

When youth are trusted with responsibility, they think creatively, critically, and strategically. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒ
This process empowers them to fully use their potential and become responsible leaders of tomorrow. ๐Ÿ‘‘โœŠ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒ

๐ŸŒโ™ป๏ธ A Cleaner Ndejje, Powered by Youth!

Four plastic collection cages have been successfully installed in four villages in Ndejje, and community members are already using them every day. This initiative is helping to reduce plastic waste while creating small income opportunities, as local recycling centers pay residents who collect and deliver plastic materials. Itโ€™s truly a win for both the environment and the community โ€” with no added cost for disposal.

Built with strong metal frames and firmly fixed in cement, the cages are secure, durable, and designed to serve Ndejje for years to come.

This milestone for the HOCW Youth Initiative was made possible through the valuable partnership with Forum za enakopraven razvoj - FER, with support from the Ministrstvo za zunanje in evropske zadeve RS / Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Together, we are shaping a greener and more sustainable future. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒŸ EMPOWERING YOUNG MINDS THROUGH CREATIVY & DIALOGUE ๐ŸŒŸ

In Ndejje, Uganda, a new creative learning program has been launched to empower children aged 7โ€“14 years! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌโœจ

This initiative uses a vibrant mix of: ๐ŸŽจ Holiday-themed Art ๐Ÿงฉ Interactive Learning Games ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Debating & Drama

These activities are designed to nurture self-expression, confidence, and critical thinking. Beyond the classroom, our youth are leading the charge through inter-school debates and an Environmental Advocacy Day, sparking vital conversations on gender-based violence and social responsibility.

Small steps, big impact. ๐ŸŒ
