UJAMAA in partnership with under HerPad project reached out to Nawanddala secondary school, Luuka district ,Uganda with on- hands skills training on how to make reusable sanitary pads. Over 136 girls and 48 boys were trained.
The training aimed to promote sustainable and hygienic menstrual practices that can benefit the students throughout their lives.
The use of reusable sanitary pads helps reduce waste and promote environmental responsibility. Through this initiative, girls gain practical skills and confidence enabling them to become advocates who share knowledge with their peers and communities.
Open discussions about menstruation also helps challenge long-standing social taboos and creates a more inclusive and supportive environment for both girls and boys.
Menstrual products are not a luxury ,they are a basic necessity. But working together, we can ensure that every girl and woman has access to safe and dignified menstrual hygiene solutions.
