Mengo Youth Development Link (MYDEL)

Mengo Youth Development Link (MYDEL) We are an organization working out of the slums in Kampala striving to enhance the living conditions of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Mengo Youth Development Link was founded in 2001 as a slum youth initiative in Kampala, Uganda. Starting as a community based organisation (CBO) during the outbreak of cholera and ebola, we initially focused on hygiene and health sensitization of the affected people. During the work in the community, our staff became aware of other challenges. Officially registered as an NGO in 2004, we decided to

focus our programs on the most vulnerable children and youths from the slum community. Nowadays, our aim is to bring the kids from the streets into a family environment where they can develop their sporting and educational potential to help them achieve successful futures free of poverty, disease and crime. The kids train regularly for sports such as soccer and netball, as well as participating in basic computing lessons, drama and dance classes and learning skills in arts and crafts.
