The DefendDefenders, on behalf of the CHARM Consortium, is inviting qualified consultants or consultancy firms to conduct an external Mid-Term Evaluation of the CHARM Programme (2023โ€“2025).

The evaluation will assess the programmeโ€™s progress, effectiveness, and impact in advancing civic space and human rights in Sub-Saharan Africa.

From the suppression of peaceful protests to the arrest and harassment of journalists and activists, recent events across the region point to a disturbing trend.
The Consortium for Human Rights and Media in Sub-Saharan Africa (CHARM) has released a joint statement highlighting these concerns and calling for urgent action to protect human rights, civic freedoms, and press independence.
