Faith in Her Heart, Supplies at Her Side

Komugisha Grace's smile says it all. Sacks of maize flour, rice, and other supplies stand beside her, ready for a new beginning.

This is what Family Empowerment looks like at ECM Uganda. Grace joined six other families on 20th and 21st August 2026, from the Lwengo Hope Center for two days of Bible study and book keeping training. Through the Word, they were encouraged spiritually, grew in faith, and learnt to live out Christian teachings.

Through the training, they learnt to keep clear records, track their progress, stay accountable, and make informed decisions.

Each of the seven families at Lwengo Hope Center received start-up capital to turn what they had learnt into action.

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)

Laughter, Stories, and a Lasting Bond

At ECM Uganda, we don't just believe in family visits. We believe in helping families truly connect.

Imagine arriving at Julius Bilalo's home in Lwengo district on 26th August 2026 and finding him bubbling over with stories about his classmates, while his mother listens, smiling and laughing with him. That is the kind of moment a lasting bond is built on.

We checked in on Julius's health and his mother's spiritual life. She warmly welcomed us as we shared Psalm 23:1: *"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."* We also encouraged her to attend prayers and fellowship at the nearest local church for continued growth, encouragement, and support.

Our hope is that parents like Julius's mother keep making time to laugh, listen, and grow closer to their children.

"Where the Streets End, the Kingdom Begins"

No classroom. No chairs. Just tin sheets, wooden poles, and a chalkboard held up by faith.

And yet — look at those hands. Every single one raised.

This is the Karamoja Kampala Hope Center, tucked deep in the Katwe slum — one of Kampala's toughest corners. This week, it was full of children who came running the moment they heard someone was talking about Jesus.

They didn't come because life is easy. They came because someone showed them a truth Scripture has been saying all along:

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." — Luke 18:16

The kingdom of God belongs to these children.

Building Healthier Homes, Strengthening Families

On 17 August, ECM Uganda's Family Empowerment Program at the Kamwokya Hope Center brought families together for hands-on training in Home Improvement and Sanitation.

Together, we learned how to keep homes clean, safe, and healthy through good hygiene practices, safe waste disposal, and regular cleaning routines.

A healthy home protects a family from disease and gives every member room to thrive.

"By wisdom, a house is built, and through understanding, it is established." (Proverbs 24:3)

Healthy homes. Empowered families. Stronger communities.

Surgery for Her Son, Salvation for Her Soul

For three and a half years, Sulainah feared her son had no future. Trevor Miyingo was born with a tumor that limited his physical ability.

In 2023, ECM Uganda's Disability Program in Lwengo District, Central Uganda, stepped in with support and care. Years of counseling and God's word gave Sulainah the courage to move forward with surgery.

On 30th July 2026, with support from missionary Josette Wells, Trevor underwent successful surgery and is now healing well.

Two days before, the greater miracle happened, Sulainah gave her life to Christ.

She now believes her son will live and have a future.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Small Stretches, Big Strength

In July, at Tororo Hope Center, Eastern Uganda, our physiotherapist got hands-on with children facing mobility challenges — training caregivers in safe stretching, positioning, and range-of-motion exercises to protect fragile joints and prevent contractures

The real win? What happens after we leave. Children now get care every single day, not once a month. And caregivers who once felt unsure now feel confident and equipped.

This is made possible by Joset Wells, our missionary to Uganda.

The journey doesn't stop here. Our coordinators are already on the move with the physiotherapist, taking this same care to Petta and Akadoitc located in differentsubcounties.

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." — Isaiah 40:29

Every stretch is a step. Every caregiver taught is a child helped.

Joan was 11 when she lost her father and her family was split apart to survive.

She found her way to ECM Uganda's Kamwokya Hope Center, where the Next Step program became the start of a much bigger journey, carrying her into a Bachelor's in Automotive and Power Engineering, as the only woman in her class.

Today, she's a Garage Supervisor at Kiansa Technical Solutions — proving, engine by engine, that competence has no gender.

"ECM has taught me to have hope."

Feeding Karamoja, Fueling Hope.

Karamoja sub-region is starving. This year, at least 19 people have died from starvation in the region, and 1.5 million people are now at risk of malnutrition. The rains failed. The crops failed. Thousands of families in Napak district, located in northern Uganda, were left counting empty days between meals.

This month, ECM Uganda Karamoja Homeland Hope Center delivered posho, beans, cooking oil and salt to 100 households - 1,330 people, mostly women and children in Kaurikiakine, Choli choli and Aregepuwa villages, led on the ground by our Program Coordinator, Noel Amongi, and Program Officer, Francis Otukon.

But we are not just feeding hunger today. Through our Farming God's Way project, we've trained 100 farmers in water harvesting and mixed farming, paired Bible study with nutrition lessons, and helped households plant gardens that don't wait on the next emergency to survive.

This work is only possible because of you. Our donors and the ECM International Office didn't just send resources, they sent hope to families who had almost none left.

"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed." — Proverbs 19:17

Karamoja is not just being fed. It's being restored. Thank you for standing with us. 🙏

Equipping Families, Strengthening Communities

This month, our FEP (Family Empowerment Program) group at Gayaza Hope Center located in Central Uganda came together for a powerful training on Managing Oneself and Friendship with the Opposite S*x.

6 families were trained this month.

The beneficiaries didn't just listen — they reflected, discussed, and got real about the gaps in their own families. They left excited, empowered, and ready to put what they learned into practice.

As part of our 24-month Bible reading journey, the group studied Exodus 20 and the book of Mark. Together they discovered that people are valuable to God, and that community thrives on truth, purity, respect, and contentment — and that God alone deserves our worship, with rest and reverence at the heart of our relationship with Him.

"But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." — Joshua 24:15
