In a slum in Gaba , a 11‑year‑old girl and her 5‑year‑old brother are running from house begging so that their sick mother can survive.School started one week ago.
Susan is not there. Marvin is not there.

Instead, every morning, Susan carries her holds her brother's hand and walks door to door in the narrow paths of Gaba slum. She knocks on neighbors' doors. She waits outside her mother's friends' houses.

"Mama has said borrow 6000(uganda shillings equivalent to 2dollars ) she will pay you when she gets better"
Some people give them alittle maize or a handful of beans. Others shut the door. Recently someone yelled at them to stop begging and go back to school.

But how can Susan go back to school when her mother has been on a sick bed for four weeks?

There is no other adult. No father. No relative who can help.

Marvin is only five. He doesn't understand why they aren't wearing uniforms like the other children he sees outside. He only understands that his stomach hurts, and that his sister's eyes look older than they should.

Their mother lies on a thin mattress in their small room. Too weak to speak much. Too sick to ask for water. The medicine ran out long ago. The food runs out almost every day.

Susan hasn't eaten properly in days. She gives whatever little they get to Marvin and their mother first.

The weight on her shoulders is not a backpack. It is the weight of keeping three people alive with two empty hands, no money, and a neighborhood that is also struggling.

They have nothing left to sell. Nothing left to eat.

But you can help.

That is the website where you can support Susan, Marvin, and their mother. Every small donation buys food, medicine, soap, or school supplies.

They need:

· Rice, beans, posho, cooking oil, milk for Marvin
· Medication for their mother
· Soap, beddings
· School fees so Susan can return to class

No child should have to beg for food in their own neighborhood.

Let's be the neighbor who doesn't shut the door.
