On a quiet evening in Kawempe Mbogo Zone, a little girl named Ayikoru was left behind with no explanation, no belongings, and no one to call her own. She was only about one year old — too young to understand why the arms that once carried her suddenly disappeared from her life.
According to reports, on 15th April 2024, a woman identified as Salome brought the child to the home of Dorothy Dricini in the company of Sida Shamira. What seemed like a temporary visit quickly turned into heartbreak. Salome vanished without trace, leaving the innocent child behind. Concerned for the baby’s safety and future, Dorothy immediately reported the matter to Kawempe Police Station, where the case was officially registered under Case No. SD 93/15/04/2024.
For days, little Ayikoru waited unknowingly for someone to return for her. But no one came.
A child so young should have been learning her first words in the warmth of a loving family, taking her first steps while being cheered on by parents, and sleeping peacefully knowing she was safe and protected. Instead, Ayikoru’s first memories became those of uncertainty, abandonment, and survival.
When all hope seemed lost, Heart to Heart Abandoned Kids' Home opened its doors and embraced her with love, protection, and dignity. The home became more than a shelter — it became the family she desperately needed. Here, Ayikoru found caregivers who held her when she cried, fed her when she was hungry, and reminded her every single day that her life still mattered.
Today, Ayikoru is growing under the care of Heart to Heart Abandoned Kids' Home. Like many abandoned and vulnerable children, she needs more than food and shelter. She needs healthcare, education, clothing, emotional support, and the opportunity to dream again. Her story represents thousands of children whose futures depend on the compassion of strangers willing to become part of their journey.
Heart to Heart Abandoned Kids' Home continues to stand as a refuge for children who have nowhere else to turn. However, caring for abandoned children requires constant support. The home faces daily challenges in providing milk, medical care, diapers, school supplies, safe accommodation, and emotional rehabilitation for every child rescued from neglect and abandonment.
Ayikoru’s story is painful, but it is also a story of hope.
It is proof that even when the world turns away from a child, love can still find them again through compassionate people and generous hearts. Every donation, sponsorship, partnership, or act of kindness becomes a lifeline that transforms fear into hope and abandonment into belonging.
We invite sponsors, donors, organizations, churches, and well-wishers to join hands with Heart to Heart Abandoned Kids' Home in restoring hope to children like Ayikoru.
Together, we can ensure that Ayikoru’s future is not defined by abandonment, but by love, opportunity, and hope.
Because every child deserves a family.
Every child deserves protection.
And every child deserves a chance to smile again.
