Highlights from our 2025 Christmas outreach in Kibuku District, Eastern Uganda

Our Christmas outreach this year focused on reaching out to the elderly, disabled and the youth.

over 100 households were impacted, courtesy of RUHU.

We were able to do a door to door outreach sharing the message of Christmas and of hope to the most vulnerable ,mainly the elderly and disabled.
Christmas gift food hampers were given to them Aswell.

we also skilled the youth in that community in soap making and gifted them the tools to start and continue making soap as an income generating project and create self employment.

This was indeed an impactful outreach thanks to Raising up hope for Uganda and Beautiful response.

in 2022 our Christmas outreach was a door to door outreach that reached out to 80 households in Namatala slum in Mbale district.

This two day outreach significantly impacted the most underprivileged while reaching out to the with food supplies and sharing the Gospel.

We also got to visit st kizito baby's home where we spent the day with abandoned children and handed over some supplies to the baby's home.

All this was only made possible by the sacrifice of those who give towards causes like this.

courtesy of RUHU, and the locals who volunteered to give.

Child of hope ministries Mbale supported us in tracing these families and volunteered with our team to ensure those we reached out were the ones most in need.

As we gear up for this year's charity outreach,
we would like to share some insights here from our Christmas outreach last year in Palisa district.

100 plus families deep down at the grassroots were blessed during the outreach, and the smiles from the little ones here said it all.

Thank you to all those who give to causes such as these.

This symbolises how impactful RUHU's muwalwa mulungi program has been to young women and girls across the country!

The Muwala Mulungi program was founded with a simple but powerful vision — to uplift young women and girls from vulnerable communities and empower them with practical skills to create better futures for themselves. What began as a small initiative under Raising Up Hope for Uganda (RUHU) has now grown into a vibrant program that is transforming lives across Kampala’s informal settlements.

The idea was born out of a deep concern for the many young women facing unemployment, exploitation, and low self-esteem. In response, the RUHU team created Muwala Mulungi — meaning Beautiful Girl — to provide a safe space where girls could learn, heal, and grow. The program initially focused on entrepreneurial and life skills training, including soap and cosmetics production, personal development, and mentorship.

Over time, Muwala Mulungi expanded its scope to include counseling sessions, marketing support, and financial literacy, enabling participants not only to gain skills but also to build sustainable livelihoods. The program’s weekly training sessions have become a source of hope and empowerment, nurturing creativity, confidence, and independence among participants.

To date, Muwala Mulungi has trained dozens of young women who have gone on to start their own small businesses, contribute to their families, and act as role models in their communities. The products made under the program — especially handmade cosmetics — have also opened income-generating opportunities, linking empowerment with sustainability.

yesterday the muwala mulungi team had the awesome privilege of visiting Revival for East African ladies, a social enterprise economically empowering disadvantaged young women from the slums of Najeera.

This amazing enterprise under the leadership of Lydia offers employment to economically empowering disadvantaged young women by skilling them to make premium probiotic yoghurt which is then sold to generate revenue to pay the young women.

Lydia offered us an opportunity to visit her production unit and watch how everything is done so we can be guided on aspects related to quality control and operationsin production.
we had met prior when she bought our product and she offered us an opportunity to freely mentor us on our journey of growth since we shared similar goals to economically empower young women.

it was beautiful to watch her ladies work and see how organised the entire production process is.

it was even more amazing to see how she has intentionally mentored and positioned the young women to head each of the departments in the production unit.

we had a lot to learn.. thank you Lydia for this amazing opportunity .
To gain wisdom, it's essential to sit at the tables of those who've walked the mile longer than you and to learn from their own experiences.

This week got us busy exhibiting our products created at muwala mulungi at the National science week 2025.
we are thankful for the amazing opportunity given to us by STI to showcase our innovations at the one week science week event. this opened us up to the general public and many influential figures as well as customers for our products.
it also gave our girls an amazing opportunity to network and learn to serve in settings such as this.

special appreciation to our girls Mary, and Sophie from the Mbuya community for exhibiting strong marketing skills and customer care .
our goal is to empower young women such as these to confidently take charge so they can lead and serve.
These two will continue to undergo trainings as we prepare them to take charge of operating our business wing where our products will continually be sold to create sustainable employment opportunities for the young women on the program.

we also had the honor of being hosted on a radio show this week by journalists who appreciated the amazing work we are doing and they invited us for a talk show on the radio to share of our work on radio one.

Tomorrow, we will be at yet another bazaar organised by UNDP for creatives to exhibit our works.

Happy smiles from our muwala mulungi young women on pay day

We don't only teach the young women to create products. We also teach them to earn an income out of the products they make.
Some find employment, while some create employment through the skills they attain.

Here are some highlights of from our business wing on pay day.
The women sale the products they make and they earn a commission on each sale they make.

We got to see happy smiles as they enjoyed the fruits of their labor getting their pay for the sales they had made from soap.

Our mission is to equip young women at the grassroots with skills that can lift them out of poverty and also create decent revenue streams for them.

This is a community driven initiative where young women are equipped with skills to make products, and for them to be the main drivers of sales for those products in their communities as they create decent income streams to better their livelihoods.

Updates from Jaja Tom's visit

We had a wonderful opportunity of having Jaja Tom and Viola volunteering with us at the muwala mulungi program.

They got to participate with the young women in their marketing class where they were equipped with soft skills in marketing the products they make through the program.

This class was purposed to empower them with soft skills in marketing so they can better market the products they make and earn an income from them.
