Senegal has raised to***co taxes from 70% to 100%, a courageous step to protect health, cut smoking, and finance 90% of its recovery plan through domestic resources.

This policy is expected to reduce to***co use (especially among youth), save lives, and generate billions for national development, showing Africa can lead with homegrown solutions even as foreign aid dwindles.

African governments should follow Senegal’s lead and invest to***co tax revenue into public health.
