Government must continue to support the elderly because they have a right to live a dignified life.
Key Reflections
Valued Contributions: Older persons bring wisdom, experience, and perspectives that enrich societies locally and globally.
Aspirations and Rights: They have aspirations for dignity, participation, health, and security Rights that are universal and inherent.
Well-Being Matters: Ensuring older persons’ physical, mental, and social well-being is crucial for inclusive societies.
Why This Day is Important
Human Rights Focus: Upholding rights of older persons aligns with global human rights frameworks.
Intergenerational Solidarity: Strengthening bonds across generations benefits communities.
Empowerment: Supporting older persons’ participation fosters active aging and societal engagement.
Addressing Challenges: Highlighting needs like healthcare, social inclusion, protection from abuse.
Older persons themselves are caregivers of children and youth, so they need support to serve even better.
Many older persons have been left with responsibility of providing for their grand kids and also other neglected children.
It's only imperative that Government must increase the SAGE funds for the older persons to be able to live a dignified life and realize their existence.
Social protection is not a charitable move, but rather A Human Right concern.
