In spite of Uganda’s history being dotted with political tensions, land conflicts, & public health crises, a different narrative emerged in 2001. Faith leaders under the umbrella of IRCU came together to forge a path of interfaith dialogue, cooperation, and peacebuilding. Twenty-five (25) years later we look back with pride because of the impact created, celebrate our victories and look into the future with hope.

This year, the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, marks 25 years of multi-religious collaboration, dialogue, and collective action toward national transformation. We're celebrating a legacy of inter-faith collaboration; honouring our past, appreciating our present, and inspiring our future.

IRCU, with support from the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM 0 of the Global Fund, held its quarterly meeting for the Faith-based Organizations Constituency at Source of the Nile Hotel, Jinja.
Up to 35 Senior religious leaders from Jinja district from different religions were sensitized on the 3 Global Fund priority diseases that is Malaria, TB and HIV.

They were reminded that religious leaders need to utilize their platforms such as pulpits to pass on health related messages especially on Malaria TB and HIV which are of public health concern and yet very preventable.

Religious leaders were reminded that they are the trusted voices and so are key in prevention of diseases.

Ms Florence Nasanga, a board member of IRCU, told participants that a sick person cannot work and so will not be able to give tithe and offering thus the community needs our support.

The religious leaders pledged to incorporate health messages in their sermons.

The National Coordination Committee of IRCU's Youth Inter-faith Network Uganda took an oath as they officially assumed responsibility of serving their country.
